1) A mononym of Aurelio V… Read Full Bio ↴Voltaire is a name of at least three acts:
1) A mononym of Aurelio Voltaire Hernández (b. 1967, Havana, Cuba), a singer/songwriter whose music has its roots deeply embedded in European folk and also has influences from the gothic scene. He has also been directing commercials and animating short films for ten years, the best known of these are his Hieronymus Bosch-inspired station MTV IDs.
Inspired by the films of Ray Harryhausen (Jason and the Argonauts, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad), Voltaire began animating at the age of ten on a super8 camera. By piecing together snippets of information from fanzines, he eventually was able to teach himself how to make foam rubber animation models and animate them. The films of his childhood landed him his first directing job in 1988 with MTV. The stop-motion tour of the hellish Garden of Earthly Delights won several awards.
He also teaches stop-motion animation at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
He also wrote the song "BRAINS!" for the Cartoon Network show "Grim and Evil" which has since split into two separate shows (The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Evil Con Carne) and the song can also be found on his album "Boo Hoo".
An avid fan of Star Trek, Voltaire frequently attends conventions and released a four track E.P. called "Banned on Vulcan". It was a set of comedy recordings poking fun at characters from the show.
He often takes part in Adventure Quest Worlds special musical events in which he is drawn incredibly well!

Anniversary
Voltaire Lyrics

You know everything must change as time goes by.
Though it feels like yesterday when we first met.
I feel I'm sinking deeper.
Do you look the same to me? Well, I don't think so.
You know everything must change as time goes by.
Like the flowers that dry, locking inside
Forever their beauty.
It gets stronger everyday.
And they said that beauty fades.
You're more beautiful than ever.
They said we'd drift away,
We're still standing here.
And it feels like everyday is our anniversary.
Well, I stumble through the dark and light a candle
And the path the wax will take, no one can know.
And you said it looked like snow or maybe clouds,
And I think it looks like heaven.
So we make it into a ring and make a mold.
And we welt above the flames the whitest gold.
When hot and cold collide what's left in place
Is forever and ever.
Some say things worth having take some time.
As they get older they get better.
The lyrics of Voltaire's song Anniversary explore the concept of change over time and the endurance of love. The song starts with the singer questioning whether they look the same to their loved one, acknowledging the inevitability of change as time goes by. Despite this, the singer reminisces about their first meeting and expresses feelings of sinking deeper into their love.
The lyrics also reflect on the fleeting nature of beauty, comparing it to flowers that dry up and lock inside forever, yet the sense of love and connection between the couple continues to grow stronger with each passing day. The singer rejects the idea that their love will fade or that they will drift apart, as they still stand together with each passing anniversary, celebrating their enduring bond.
The chorus highlights the power and beauty of their love, indicating that every day feels like their anniversary. The lyrics suggest that, just like how the ring they make out of wax and gold is forever, the couple's love is enduring and unchanging. The song concludes on an optimistic note, with the singer acknowledging that some things take time to mature and get better with age.
