I'M SORRY
Voltaire Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Life has a way of making you humble
Day after day it's bringing you to your knees
All's okay, then everything crumbles
And all that you perceive is blowing away

But while I'm tearing at the seams
I'll apologize to anything
I'm sorry

All's black and white when you're just a baby
You get some hair on your chin
You think you know everything
Years go by then everything's "maybe"
And all that you believe
Drowns in a sea of gray

But while I'm tearing at the seams
I'll apologize to anything
I'm sorry, I'm selfish
I'm sorry, I behave this way
I'm sorry, couldn't help it
I'm sorry that you lost your faith in me

(I'm sorry that you lost your faith
I'm sorry that it rains

I'm sorry I ever came
I'm sorry, I'm sorry)

Overall Meaning

As the lyrics to Voltaire's song When You're Evil cannot be provided, we cannot give a direct interpretation of the specific lyrics. However, we can still analyze the artistic themes and messages commonly present in Voltaire's music. Voltaire is known for his dark gothic rock style and frequently delves into subjects such as death, horror, and the occult. His music often features tongue-in-cheek lyrics that are simultaneously amusing and eerie.

When You're Evil, in particular, is a prime example of the themes that Voltaire often explores in his music. The song has a confrontational tone, as the singer taunts the listener with the idea that they are secretly harboring malicious intentions. The lyrics are often described as playful and witty, which adds to the unsettling nature of the song. One interpretation of the song could be that it critiques people who hide behind a facade of goodness while secretly engaging in wicked behaviors.

Voltaire's music is also known for its incorporation of various instruments and musical styles, including elements of rock, jazz, and cabaret. This eclectic mix of genres is part of what sets Voltaire's music apart from other artists in the gothic rock scene.

The Lair of Voltaire

Pretty much all of Boo Hoo was written after a particularly painful break up. This song is definitely one of them. It's about having the rug pulled out from under you. Having someone break up with you when you really didn't see it coming. I'll get into more details once I get around to making the Song Meanings video for this album.

I was first introduced to you at the wee ripe age of 15 when my goth aunt took me to see you at El Corazon Seattle. The older I become, the harder your emotional lyrics hit home
