@Sharon Menezes From the very beginning of this season, Simon has always favored Carrie. He made a comment very early off that she would win the season and would go on to sell more records than any contestant in AI history. I used to feel that Simon (maybe intentionally or untentionally) would sabotage other contestants so that his prophesy would come true. Vonzell had way stage presence and charm than Carrie and took more risks in song choices, however, on the flip side Carrie had a more steady pitch perfect, reliable soothing voice. BTW I own all of Carrie's album and have even seen her in concert as the main attraction so I'm a fan. However, Simon knew that Carrie's biggest weakness was her stage presence and charm and he oftentimes never gave Vonzell credit in those areas because it would highlight Carrie's weaknesses even more. So he oftentimes undeservingly diminished Vonzell's performances during judges panel so that prophesy became reality ...and guess what..it did!

I think Simon was being strategic here.. It was weeks that he was tearing Anthony and Scott apart and they kept surviving on sympathy votes. On both top 5 and top 4 night he turned down a bit his harsh critics on them both and gave Vonzell some unfair critics (knowing she was the most vulnerable to be knocked by one of them like the others). And it worked... Finally we got rid of Scott and Anthony back to back and the show had the deserving final 3.
