Vroom (originally comprised of members John Johnson, Tim Seay, Jim Kellaris and Nate Foutz) released three albums and an EP during their tenure as a band between the late 90's and 2004. Their first album (Things Not to Do) was recorded while the band members were in high school. The album's melodic pop-punk style was well received at the time and won the band a following throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the US, but also found fans as far away as the West coast. It was also during this time that original bassist Jim Kellaris left the band to pursue other interests. For shows after Jim left, Jason Garner filled in on bass.
The band's follow-up album, "...Throws Like a Girl" was recorded in Nashville, TN in late 1998 by John Painter (of Fleming and John fame). Painter played bass on the album in the absence of a permanent bass player. The album was released in 1999 while the band was in college. It was by far their most successful effort at that time, and remains their most popular work to date. Backed by frequent touring (during which Ron Babbington became the permanent bass player), the band expanded and solidified their following from Boston to Miami. With some tracks earning radio play, Vroom created quite a buzz around the indie scene well into 2001.
At that time the band released an EP entitled "A Five Song Demonstration". The EP marked a small shift in style, moving away from pop-punk into more of a pop-rock feel. The recording quality of the EP did the band no favors, and was not as well received as "...Throws Like a Girl". Still, the songs came off much better live than they did in a recorded form and the band pressed on.
In 2003, after failing to find a home on a label, the band decided to call it quits. They did, however, record and produce a final album on their own comprised of the remaining new songs in their catalog. This album (Rosebud) again marked a shift in the bands style toward a bit more experimental form of the pop-rock they'd previously been toying with. While "A Five Song Demonstration" was intended to be completely radio-friendly, "Rosebud" was a no holds barred approach to making music. As a result, the album is somewhat unconventional in tone and production.
In 2004 after a short farewell tour, the band called it quits. In 2005 they reunited for one show at The Drowsy Poet in their hometown of Lynchburg, VA. A video of this show can be found on Google Video.

Grupa Vroom osnovana je krajem 1997. godine i svoju aktivnost započinje koncertima po beogradskim klubovima objedinjujući specifičnim zvukom (dva vokala, gitara, harmonika, bas, fretless bas, elektronski i akusti~ni bubanj) kabaretsku muziku, melodije Balkana i savremene ritmove zapada (techno, drum'n'bass, trip hop...).
Članovi grupe Vroom su Vanja Milinković – vokal, Marko Nježić - gitara i glas, Marko Grubić - bas i sempler, Aljoša Varga - fretless bas i Branislav Potić - bubanj.
The Serbian band of the same name has released 4 albums; some say that they play some kind of electro-jazz-rock. Their longtime singer was Vladislava Đorđević was recently replaced by Vanja Milinković.

To know about the evils of the world and ignorance was bliss
Did we forget about those years, have we given into fear
Oh I wish I wasn't here
'Cause everything has changed now
Life was so simple it's insane now
I wish I could step off the train now
But I won't let them go
Take me home I never wanted to get old like this
Take me back unto my younger days of innocence
And the war that rages on wouldn't callous us at all
We weren't frightened by the threat of nuclear attack
And we didn't have to care about government affairs
And I wish I still was there
'Cause everything has changed now
Life was so simple it's insane now,
I wish I could step off the train now
My memories begin to fade out
But I won't let them go
Take me home I never wanted to get old like this
Take me back unto my younger days of innocence
Tonight I became what I hate
I lost my youth and I don't like things this way
On the edge everyone feels the same
Things were better in our more innocent days
And I wish they'd stayed the same [2x]
Take me home I never wanted to get old like this
Take me back unto my younger days of innocence [2x]
In "You've Changed," Vroom explores the theme of growing older and losing one's innocence. The first verse reminisces about a time when we were ignorant and unaware of the evils of the world. Growing older has changed everything, and the singer wishes to go back to a simpler time. In the second verse, the song references political and social issues that we were not concerned with when we were younger. The singer wishes they could go back to not having to worry about these issues.
The chorus repeats the desire to return to a time of innocence and simplicity, emphasizing the singer's longing to not have to deal with the complexities of growing older. The bridge takes a slightly different turn, acknowledging that the singer has become what they once hated - an adult who has lost touch with their youthful innocence. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the singer's desire to return to a simpler time.
Overall, "You've Changed" speaks to the universal desire to return to a time when life was simpler and carefree. The song acknowledges the difficulties of growing older and the nostalgia we often feel for our youth.
