Seasons
Wait in Vain Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

"The summers wind came blowing in" and i can still recall the tremble in your voice and your dissent into the upcoming fall, despair and fear kept bottled inside, you held them so tight they just burned you alive, and I remember the days of smiles on our lips and feelings that couldn't be replaced, and I remember the days when promises we made, we thought we'd never break, now all that remains are the words we spoke on cool summer nights, the fever in your voice and strength in your heart, you never gave up a fight, the setting sun so far in the distance couldn't keep you warm, it just left you cold, and i remember the days of smiles on our lips and feelings that couldn't be replaced, and i remember the days when promises we made we thought, we'd never break, and the seasons changed,... then came the rain... struggle with the thoughts of you no longer in sight, on through the chill of fall, into the freeze of winters call, the memories of you in springs thaw, these memories you still haunt, i counted the days waiting for you to come back, i counted the days and i just lost track, and the seasons changed, then came the rain, and the seasons changed, then came the pain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Wait in Vain's song "Seasons" depict the changes that occur in a relationship as the seasons change throughout the year. The opening line, "The summers wind came blowing in," suggests the powerful force of nature that sets the stage for the emotional turmoil to come. The singer recalls the tension and fear that his partner felt as the summer drew to a close and the fall brought uncertainty and despair. Despite the promise of new beginnings in the coming year, the memories of lost love linger on.

The singer reminisces about the happier times in the relationship, when "smiles on our lips and feelings that couldn't be replaced" dominated their days. However, promises that were made were eventually broken, leaving only the memories of lost love. As the seasons change, the singer struggles to forget about his lost love, counting the days until she might return. Despite the passage of time, the memories remain and continue to haunt him.

Overall, the song speaks to the transience of love and the way that our emotions can be affected by the changing seasons. It is a poignant reminder of the power of memory and the way that it can shape our perceptions of past and present.

So, apparently a video I made in 2005 is being marked for copyright infringement because of this song. However, the thunderstorm sound I used was from the free sound project, and it was creative commons....sounds very similar to what was used at the beginning of this song....if you did, in fact use that recording, then you would not have rights to the sound wav either. This song was made in 2011, and my video was made 4 years before it, and uploaded to Youtube in 2009. I have disputed your claim.
