There was also a band named Wakefield from North Carolina in the mid to late 90s that played alt-rock music. The band released one album independently in 1999 that was self-titled. The tracks on the album are "And I Stare," "Ground Xero," "Lost," "Bitch is on Fire," "The Girl Song," "Quick," "Beauty Queen," "The Swing Song," "Into the Dark," "Savior," "Hello," "Angel," "Irregular" and "Symphony Four." The band split up shortly after the album was released.
A third, and much older band also known as Wakefield:

You are the fix I'd hope to find
And people can be so
All that I want now is not to change
You are the hope you will stay the same
And people can let go
I like to keep your pictures candle lit
I need you to be someone I worship Might be to hard to handle if you were mine
And that is why I built this shrine
I keep my distance, everything's clear
And there are no words I need to hear
It's better for both of us
And all that I want now is not stray
I need the strength you radiate
It's something I can trust
I like to keep your pictures candle lit
I need you to be someone I worship
Might be to hard to handle if you were mine
And that is why I built this shrine
It's everything I never told you
And I don't ever need to own you
I don't ever want to hold you
Until you die
So don't don't don't
I like to keep your pictures candle lit
I think you could be someone I worship
Might be to hard to handle if you were mine
And that is why I built this shrine
I like to keep your pictures candle lit
I think you could be someone I worship
Might be to hard to handle if you were mine
And that is why I built this shrine
"Wakefield's song, Shrine," is a melancholy ballad about the singer's complex emotions towards the person they admire. The singer laments that, while they are drawn to this person, they are unable to fully be with them. "I am in circles, you're a straight line" represents the fundamental difference between them. Despite their attraction, the singer recognizes that this individual is the fix they seek but cannot have.
The singer's attraction to this person borders on obsession, but they understand that a relationship would be too difficult to handle. They "keep [their] distance," preferring to admire from afar rather than pursue something that would not work out. The chorus emphasizes this idea: "I like to keep your pictures candle lit / I need you to be someone I worship / Might be too hard to handle if you were mine / And that is why I built this shrine." The shrine, in this instance, symbolizes the singer's adoration, reverence, and devotion to this person.
The final lines of the song—"It's everything I never told you / And I don't ever need to own you / I don't ever want to hold you / Until you die / So don't don't don't"—reinforce the idea that while the singer cares about this person deeply, they understand the limitations of the relationship. The singer does not want to possess this person in a romantic or sexual sense; they merely want to worship them from afar.
