The lyrics to Wale and Meek Mill's "Face Down" are an explicit celebration of sexual prowess and the indulgences of partying. The chorus instructs the listener to put their face down and ass up, which is a popular position for sexual intercourse. The song starts with Wale rapping about the number of women he has trying to sleep with him, with alcohol and sexual desire clouding his mind. Meek Mill follows up with lyrics about the sexual acts he performs on these women, including deep penetration and oral sex. The lyrics of the song follow a typical rap format, where the male performers boast about their sexual abilities and potential conquests. The song uses explicit language and imagery throughout and is not suitable for all listeners.
One of the interesting aspects of "Face Down" is the controversy surrounding the song's lyrics. When the song was first released in 2012, it sparked a great deal of backlash from women's groups and advocacy organizations who found the lyrics offensive and degrading to women. Despite the controversy, the song became popular in hip hop circles and was featured on numerous mixtapes and compilations. Wale and Meek Mill faced criticism from many female fans for the lyrics in the song, but they defended their right to free expression and artistic freedom.
Another interesting fact about "Face Down" is the production behind the song. The beat for the song was created by producer King Midas and was released as a part of his mixtape "We Can't Stop Vol. 1." The production has a slow, heavy bass line that emphasizes the sexual content of the lyrics. The song's production was praised by many critics for its originality and use of unconventional sounds.
The song also features a number of other famous rappers who make guest appearances. In addition to Wale and Meek Mill, the song features Rick Ross, Gunplay, and DJ Sam Sneak. The song was released under the Maybach Music Group label, which is owned by Rick Ross.
The lyrics and content of "Face Down" are typical of the "party rap" genre of hip hop music that was popular in the early 2010s. This subgenre emphasized the indulgences of the party lifestyle, with lyrics often celebrating drug use, alcohol consumption, and sexual promiscuity. Many of the songs in this subgenre were criticized for their negative portrayals of women and their glorification of problematic behavior.
"Face Down" has since become a classic in the realm of party anthems, and it continues to receive airplay on urban radio stations across the country. Despite the controversy surrounding the song's lyrics, it remains popular among many hip hop fans who enjoy the song's explicit content and danceable beats.
Chords: Unfortunately, as this is a rap song, it does not have any chords.
