Walk the Moon Lyrics
I know everyone you know
You know everyone I know
A venn diagram is one circle
You grow up when you're not looking
We grow up but without knowing
And all of a sudden I'm leaving
So I say I'm sorry I can't, I've got plans
'Cause I watched the time slip through my hands
But you don't know now
One day you'll learn
Growing up is a heavy leaf to turn
A heavy leaf to turn
Take me with you
Cus even on your own
You are not alone
Take me with you
'Cause even by yourself, my love
You are something else
One summer turns into ten summers
One lover turns into ten lovers
But this memory is still with me
Circles bring me in circles
Your clothes underneath my clothes
Once upon a time in Portugal
So I say I'm sorry I can't, I've got plans
'Cause I watched the time slip through my hands
But you don't know now
One day you'll learn
But growing up is a heavy leaf to turn
A heavy leaf to turn
Take me with you
'Cause even on your own
You are not alone
Take me with you
'Cause even by yourself, my love
You are something else
No matter what you want
Somebody else wants it just as bad
No matter what you got
Somebody else has got it worse
No matter when I got to you
Somebody else got to you first
So I say I'm sorry I can't, I've got plans
'Cause I watched the time slip through my hands
But you don't know now
One day you'll learn
That growing up is a heavy leaf to turn
A heavy leaf to turn
Take me with you
'Cause even on your own
You are not alone
Take me with you
'Cause even by yourself, my love
You are something else
Take me with you
'Cause even on your own (you are alone)
You are not alone
Take me with you
'Cause even by yourself
You carry with you anyone else

It's so uncanny how my last girlfriend and I called this our song for a period of time, completely oblivious to the lyrics talking about growing apart but still wishing well for the other person.
After a nasty break up and a lengthy reconciliation it turned out to be a pretty damn good song for us.

Despite its typical cheery melody and instrumentation, I actually find this to be a pretty deep and sad song. I'm really feeling those lyrics right now, wondering if I'm starting to lose my longtime friend because I developed a crush on her. I just hope we don't grow apart as we grow up, and let time slip through my hands.

@readi board II Wow, never thought I'd be sharing my deep secrets on YouTube. No matter, I don't really care. She was my coworker, sort of, and longtime friend, but when another coworker started to flirt with her and develop strong feelings for her, I got jealous and for whatever reason I developed a severe crush on her too. To add insult to injury, suffice it to say the work was religious and of a nature such that being at all romantic in that environment was prohibited, so his flirting should not have happened in the first place, and my feelings for her ideally wouldn't be happening either. Eventually my jealousy and attraction got so bad and so obsessive that I decided I just had to talk to her about how I felt, just get it off my chest. And I did, and I was brutally, stupidly honest with her, telling her about how distracting these feelings were and that that was why I had to tell her. Looking back, it was one of the stupidest things I've ever done. She reacted about as you would expect: continuing to respect me but distancing herself from me considerably. Now we've been apart for 8 months except for a brief visit in December (she goes to a different university than me), and just today I finally met up with her again, only to find out she's engaged now. So heartbreaking. At least her fiance isn't that coworker that was flirting with her originally. 😔😔😢😢

By far my favorite WTM song of all time

This song reminds me a lot of 2016 when I first moved to Walk The Moon's hometown of Cincinnati for college. What an incredible summer that was, and how this song reminds me a lot of that European feel where I can only think of soccer with it for some reason. Maybe because it sounds like a FIFA song haha. Miss those days of being young, not caring for the future and just great times and memories. Summer 2016 in Ohio will never be topped.
