Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom
Zoom Zoom Zooooom
Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom Zoom
As I sit... In my four cornered room
As I sit... In my four cornered room
Thinking, talking, we've worked out our problems
Looked like we should have better days in front
Just because we took our time to think and talk
For a much better understanding
As I sit... In my four cornered room
As I sit... In my four cornered room
As I sit... In my four cornered room
As I sit... In my four cornered room
As we sit here in my four cornered room
I can feel all y'allz deepest emotions
I know I can't talk right
But I'm feeling something in the depths of my soul
I can understand where you're coming from
Y'all coming from my four cornered room
That four cornered room y'all
The lyrics of War’s song Four Cornered Room describe the experience of feeling trapped in a confined space while simultaneously gaining a new level of understanding and empathy for others. The repetition of “Zoom Zoom Zooooom” in the beginning of the song creates a sense of restlessness and anticipation, suggesting that the singer is eager to escape their current situation. However, the line “As I sit in my four cornered room” immediately follows, revealing that the singer is indeed confined to a small space. Despite this, the singer finds a sense of clarity in this space, recognizing that the introspective atmosphere has allowed for reflection and growth.
The song also touches on the idea of communication and how it can lead to positive change. The lines “Thinking, talking, we’ve worked out our problems” and “Just because we took our time to think and talk / For a much better understanding” emphasize the importance of open dialogue and patience when resolving conflicts. The last verse takes on a slightly different perspective, describing how the singer is able to sense the emotions of others despite their inability to communicate verbally. This suggests that empathy is not always reliant on words, but rather an energy or intuition that can be felt in the presence of others.
Overall, Four Cornered Room is a song about finding peace and understanding in seemingly restrictive circumstances. It highlights the importance of introspection, communication, and empathy in fostering personal growth and positive relationships with others.
