I'm sick and tired of the rat race
On rocket ship no time to wait
I just want to gravitate
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
Gone, it's gone
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
Gone, it's gone
People movin' to and fro
To a song and a band and a laser show
Superman, Batman, goin' all night
Playin' one on one with a meteor light
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's gone, it's gone
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
Gone, it's gone, gone, gone
Ninth dimension, seventh lane
I'll get raised in solar cane
The star patrol said keep it down, keep it down, keep it down
Keep it down, keep it down, keep it down, keep it down
As long as the rule when you stay in town
As long as the rule where you stay around
Out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's gone in the galaxy
It's gone at the galaxy
Out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's gone in the galaxy
It's gone at the galaxy
Out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's gone in the galaxy
It's gone at the galaxy
Out of sight, it's out of sight
It's out of sight, it's out of sight
It's gone in the galaxy
It's gone at the galaxy
The lyrics to War's song "Galaxy" describe the singer's desire to escape the mundane and superficialities of modern society by traveling to another realm in space. The repetition of "out of sight" and "gone" emphasizes the longing for a place that is beyond reach, while also serving as a nod to the space race and the cultural fascination with the unknown. The reference to Superman and Batman suggests a desire for heroism and adventure, while the mention of a laser show indicates the technological advancements that fuel the desire for exploration. The final lines suggest that rules still exist even in space, although they may differ from those on earth.
One interesting fact about "Galaxy" is that it was included on both the soundtrack for the 1974 film "That's Entertainment!" and the 1975 album "Why Can't We Be Friends?" The song is also notable for its use of funk and jazz influences, which were hallmarks of War's sound.
Another interesting fact is that the song's lyrics were written by Howard Scott, the guitarist for War. Scott also wrote the music for the song along with his fellow band members.
"Galaxy" has been covered by several artists and has appeared in several films and television shows over the years. The song was prominently featured in the 1986 comedy film "Running Scared" and was also used in the TV series "Miami Vice" in 1985.
The chords for "Galaxy" are not available at this time.
