No, no puedo
No puedo
Realmente, no puedo ahora
No, no puedo
No puedo
(Laughter)
Mi padre, tu sabes
No, no, no puedo
Ahora no

Hey señorita
Every time I look in your eyes
I can see you smiling
Hey pretty lady
I can hear the music playing
Let's go dancing
Tu, también, no
Es que no puedo
No puedo
Mis padres
Me entiendes
Tal vez
Hey señorita
Won't you let me take you walking in the moonlight
Hey foxy lady
Come and give me all the love that you have inside you
No puedo, ahora, no puedo
Hey señorita
You're the kind of girl a guy wants to come on home to
Go tell your mama
From now on you and me gonna be together
Come on, come on, come on,
Come on, come on, come on,
Come on, come on, come on
Pretty lady
Come on, come on, come on,
Come on, come on, come on,
Come on, come on, come on
Pretty lady
The lyrics to War's song Hey Señorita seem to depict the struggles of a young man who wants to be with a girl he admires but feels unable to do so due to his living arrangements with his parents. He repeatedly says he cannot go out and dance or be with her, possibly due to his parents' disapproval. However, he continues to ask her out and compliment her, calling her pretty lady and señorita. He tells her she's the kind of girl he wants to come home to and that they should be together. The song implies a longing for connection and a desire to break free from the constraints of his situation to be with the person he desires.
The lyrics feel relatable and timeless, depicting the struggles of young adults trying to navigate social and romantic relationships while still living with their parents. The repetition of "no puedo" emphasizes the feeling of being stuck or trapped, while the upbeat tempo and cheerful music contrasts with the somewhat melancholic words. Overall, the song captures the emotions and dilemmas of young love, especially when family dynamics come into play.
