Me And Baby Brother
War Lyrics

Used to run together
Me and baby brother
Used to run together
Welcome one another
Headed for the corner
Welcome one another
Shiftin' on his mind
Is like drinking funky wine
By the river
Chippin' on his mind
Is like drinking funky wine
By the river
Me and baby brother
Used to run together
Me and baby brother
Used to run together
Welcome one another
Headed for the corner
Welcome one another
Headed for the corner
I remember the day
We used to fight together
I remember the day, yeah
We used to fight together
Me and baby brother
Used to run together
Me and baby brother
Used to run together
Hang on, baby brother, oh
They call it law and order
Hey, hey, hey
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
You're my baby brother
You're my baby brother
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
You're my baby brother
You're my baby brother
Come back, baby brother
Come back, baby brother
The lyrics of War's song Me and Baby Brother describe a close relationship between two brothers. The repetition of the opening lines emphasizes the strong bond that they once had as they used to run together. The mention of heading for the corner suggests that they may have grown up in a tough neighborhood and this was a place they would often frequent. The line "welcome one another" indicates that they were not alone and that they had a group of friends they associated with.
The verse "shiftin' on his mind is like drinking funky wine" evokes the idea of change and how it can be intoxicating like wine. It is possible that the brother is experiencing difficult times and struggling with personal issues. The line "by the river" suggests that he may be escaping his problems by going to a place of quiet solitude.
The second verse describes a memory of when the brothers used to fight together. This could be interpreted as either physical altercations or that they stood up for each other during difficult times. The repetition of "come back, baby brother" towards the end hints that something has happened, and the singer wants their brother back. The use of the phrase "they call it law and order" implies that the brother may have left or is in trouble with the law. The lyrics are emotional and deliver a message of the love and loyalty between the siblings.
