Stand Tall
WarChild Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
i want some sand and i want some land
Can you hear me now?
(hey)can you feel me now?
See i don't want some fire, i want some water
i want some sand and i want some land
Can you hear me now?
no man can hold me down
hold me down
i say no man can hold me down
no man can hold me down
The lyrics of the song "Stand Tall" by WarChild address the need for basic necessities and the desire for freedom. The repeated lines "See I don't want some fire, I want some water, I want some sand and I want some land" emphasize the need for the most essential things in life, while the questions "Can you hear me now? Can you feel me now?" express the frustration of feeling unheard and unseen. The statement "no man can hold me down, hold me down" is a resolute declaration of one's own strength and determination to overcome any obstacle.
The song could be interpreted as a metaphor for fighting against oppression, whether it be systemic or personal. The singer's request for water and land could be symbolic of the right to access basic resources, while the line "no man can hold me down" denotes a refusal to succumb to any force that tries to keep them subdued. The song's underlying message is one of hope and resilience in the face of difficulty, encouraging the listener to stand tall despite whatever challenges they may face.
