Gone With The Wind
Warner Bros. Orchestra Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Last night we met
And I dream of you yet
With the wind and the rain in your hair

I held you tight
And you whispered "good night"
With the wind and the rain in your hair
Now it will be my favorite memory
That vision of you standing there

Oh, there in the mist
How you sighed when we kissed
With the wind and the rain in your hair

Now it will be my favorite memory
That vision of you standing there

Mm, there in the mist

How you sighed when we kissed
With the wind and the rain in your hair

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Warner Bros. Orchestra's "Gone With the Wind" depict an encounter between two people on a stormy night. The singer explains that they met and even after the encounter, they still dream of the person. The person had the wind and the rain in their hair, which seems to be an allusion for an untamed nature, which fascinates the singer. The singer held the person tight and whispered "good night" and the memory of that moment will remain the singer's favorite for a long time.

The second verse has similar imagery as the first, with the added dimension of the mist, creating a sense of mystery and whimsy. The person sighs when the two of them kiss, which is a sign of passion and perhaps longing. The repetition of the phrase "With the wind and the rain in your hair" throughout the song, emphasizes the memory of the moment when the two people met.

Overall, the lyrics of "Gone With the Wind" are about a brief encounter on a stormy night that lingers in the memory of one or both people involved. It suggests that an intense emotional connection can be formed despite the fleeting nature of the moment.

@Soundtrack Fred ;
"Duel In The Sun".
Also a Good Movie 👍.

Jennifer Jones, Gregory Peck, Joseph Cotton, Lionel Barrymore, Lillian Gish, and a wicked shootout at the end 😏.

Do you speak of the, "Kings Row" that, Ronald Regan, and Robert Cummings were in ?

I personally enjoyed it very much.
A bit Dark, but well acted and interesting.

How do these great composers come up with such truly inspiring and great themes

Robert Milton

Its a gift.

And Beethoven was deaf !   Unbelievable.

The idea of genius is false. These themes come from HARD WORK over and over and the COURAGE TO CREATE (Rollo May's book). One goes into the Caos Zone of Creativity into the ZERO POINT (heaven, or the Great Behond) and brings back a SYNETHESIS that stops the war between a Thesis and an Antithesis here in Space-Time. It occurs in every human endeavor. Chuck Yeager the sound berrier, Nadia perfect 10, all Arts and Sciences. And you and I can FEEL IT even though we did nothing to make it. ENJOY.

Richard Close Beethoven could hear for most of his life. And I bet ya that even after he was deaf he could still hear the music inside his head.

Anyone love how the motif for Tara's theme reappears in the finale? I think it's really amazing.

The portion where Dixie blends in is so sad and sentimental. 3:20. Beautifully scored.

Where Dr & Mrs Meade learn of their son's death?

Nicholas Stix

@JOHN ROARTY Yes! It's practically an artistic miracle, for it makes the decadent slavocracy sympathetic. Without passages like that and the main theme ("Tara"), the picture would have failed artistically.
