BOY
Was Was Not Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Boy's gone crazy...Ooo, ooo, ooo
Boy's gone crazy...Ooo, ooo, ooo

Johnny's on top of the shopping mall
Pretending like he's gonna fall
Just throwing stones at a neon sign
Saying over and over "She was mine all mine"
The boy's gone crazy, it's not just a phase
He's one step over the line
The boy's gone crazy, he's seen his better days
She's really gone for good this time

Can't keep his mind on his schoolwork
Won't tell anybody just how bad he's hurt
Keeps popping them quarters in a pinball game
Doing all he can do to forget her name

The boy's gone crazy, it's not just a phase
He's one step over the line
The boy's gone crazy, he's seen his better days
She's really gone for good this time

Well he did see her face in the dark
And he did see that in the moon
With every beat of his heart
He knows his life is ruined, whoa yeah

Out on the highway doing ninety-eight
Radio blasting as he's tempting fate
He swears he saw an angel in a black Corvette
She was blowing him kisses through her cigarette

The boy's gone crazy, it's not just a phase
He's one step over the line, yeah, yeah
The boy's gone crazy, he's seen his better days
She's really gone, really gone for good this time
The boy's gone crazy, it's not just a phase
He's really just one step over the line
The boy's gone crazy, he's seen his better days
She's really gone for good this time, oh
The boy's gone crazy, it's not just a phase
He's one step over the line, yeah, yeah
The boy's gone crazy, he's seen his better days
She's really gone, really gone for good this time
The boy's gone crazy, it's not just a phase
He's really just one step over the line, yeah, yeah

The boy's gone crazy, he's seen his better days
She's really gone for good this time, boy's gone crazy

That kid learned a valuable lesson. Especially the parents if he's lucky.

Abhijeet Kuri

These parents are the most annoying, they can't handle their kids and expect others to be responsible and tolerate their kids'misbehaviour.

@Abhijeet Kuri so very true. Its a shame how this world is changing...and generally not for good. Where have morals and responsibilities gone?

I'm pretty sure they didn't even see the kid and also his parents might've went to the washroom or something plus they probably didn't expect the kid to do that. Also, they made sure he was okay after that so like y'all can't really blame the people and say stupid things with a stupid reason. Edit: fixed the grammar bec ppl were getting mad plus to the ppl saying stuff like bozo and stop using crack, like what's that even suppose to do lol. Edit 2: for the ppl saying that both parents going to the washroom was unreasonable, the kid might've wanted to watch the race and the parents might've spent money on watching that race so they might've left the kid to watch the race so it wouldn't be a total waste of money. Also, when the people realized the kid went on the tracks, they told him to get off but the kid went the wrong way so I mean like you can't really blame the parents for what the kid did. Edit 3: for the ppl saying it was the parent's fault for not being responsible, the kid honestly looked like he tried to avoid the runners, but I do kinda see both sides on how it's the parent's fault and the kid's at the same time.

@BecomingTheMostKnownCommenter You must be a teen...dont make excuses for poor parenting...if they went to the bathroom they should have taken the child with them. No parent expects there kid to do something wrong, but as a good parent you should always keep yer eyes open to the possibilities. Who made sure the kid was ok...not his parents...the only person to quickly go to the kid was a white lady who may have been a race official. Until the child is 18 the parents are the ones responsible for anything the kid does. Just like your parents are responsible for your own actions until you turn 18 and are legally responsible for yourself. FYI...drumming up poor excuses for bad parenting is a stupid thing for a stupid reason...hahahaha
