It All Feels Right
Washed Out Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Leaving heading eastbound
Weekend's almost here now
It's getting warmer outside
It all feels right
Call your friends, I'll call mine
We'll head out for a long ride
Sun is coming out now
It all feels right

Close my eyes
Think about the old times
What's it all about?
The feeling when it all works out

We'll be gone for a few nights
Meet up with the old crowd
Music's playing so loud
It all feels right

Close my eyes
Think about the old times

What's it all about?
The feeling when it all works out

Does it all feel alright?
Or is it a feeling not quite?
i might be wrong in the understanding of the song
But all i can say is that it does not feel alright

When its all said and done
Everything vanishes without any sign
Leaving a hole deep inside
Leaving me dormant without vitals to find
The estasis of this dormant heart
Crumbles without any feeling to keep alive

This short version of me is written here
I will post it publicly for everyone to see
That when everything feels alright
That's when it comes and leaves you empty inside.

This album, and Washed Out in general, got me through my divorce a few years ago. And not because I was high. But the music took me to another place. As soon as I'd pop this on, it was like I was magically transported to, like, Thailand or Kiribati or something. Some place where people chill on the beach all day, palm trees sway in the ocean breeze, and divorce is a million miles away. They helped ease the greatest pain I've ever known, and for that, Washed Out will always have a special place in my heart.

All the best regards! See you in that far far away!

I went through much of the same thing in my divorce. At one point I was living in a hotel room with Mister Mellow on repeat for a minute. Dark times, but that’s when we can see and hear life’s beauty so clearly. I was only familiar with tracks like Eyes Be Closed that got radio play before that. Once I dove deep, though, I never looked back.
