1. Washington
Megan Washington is a popular Australian musician and songwriter who records and performs under the single moniker Washington. She sings and plays piano and guitar.
Before embarking on a solo career, Washington has toured as the keyboardist and backing vocalist for artists including Old Man River and Ben Lee. In late 2008 she launched her current band, Washington, with Lance Ferguson (The Bamboos), John Castle, Des White, Ross Irwin and Ryan Monro (The Cat Empire, Jackson Jackson) on bass. The band released their debut EP, Clementine, in 2008. In November 2008 they were announced as Triple J's Unearthed winners and performed at the Melbourne Big Day Out. This was followed by the release of a second EP, How To Tame Lions in September 2009. Following appearances on popular Australian TV shows 'Spicks and Specks', 'Good News Week' and 'RocKwiz', Washington attracted the attention of a wider audience.
In December 2009 she won the inaugural Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition for her song, "How to Tame Lions". Washington received six 2010 ARIA Music Awards nominations which include "Album of the Year" and "Best Adult Alternative Album" for I Believe You Liar, "Single of the Year" ("How To Tame Lions"), "Best Female Artist" and "Breakthrough Artist".
2. Washington
Washington is the Norwegian indie band now known as Mount Washington, hailing from Tromsø, Norway, but now based in Berlin, Germany.
Founding members of the group are singer/songwriter and guitarist Rune Simonsen, drummer Esko Pedersen and bassplayer Andreas Hoyer. Their music can be referred to as Saybia or Coldplay-like, with melancholic and melodic guitars and piano's, but they're not afraid to experiment on occasions.
They released three albums as Washington: A New Order Rising (2004), Astral Sky (2007) and Rouge / Noir (2008).
In 2011, coinciding with the recording of their fourth album, the band changed their name into Mount Washington. The self-titled 'début album' under the new band name was released in early 2012.

What you got is what you wanted
I sleep in a lake of navy
I know how many times you played my song
Thirty one, thirty one
And the color of my modern heart
I wonder how you ever made it
Holy shit, you sure can turn it on
Twenty one, twenty one, twenty one
Do ya, do ya, do ya know what's
In my head when I'm below you?
Do I, do I, do I know you?
Do I, do I, do I make you hum?
Everybody's got somebody that they're looking for
(repeat)
I want you to make a mess of me
In all my Sunday best, I'll get dressed
I'll get ready.anekatips
Hold it, hold it, hold it steady
I will take the time to make it
Just to give you the chance to break it
We get sick when we get started
What you got is what you wanted
What you got is broken-hearted, broken-hearted
I watch you when you wonder how you ever made it
I start shaking when you shake it
Holy shit, you sure can turn it on
Ah do ya, do ya, do ya know what
In my heat when I'm below you?
Do I, do I, do I know you?
Do I, do I, do I make you hum?
Everybody's got somebody that they're look for
(repeat)
We get sick when we get started
What you got is what you wanted
What you wanted
The lyrics to Washington's song Sunday Best convey a sense of longing and desire for intimacy with another person. The opening lines speak to the physical sensations that come with the excitement of a new relationship - getting sick when things start to heat up, and finally getting what you've been wanting. The singer then describes their own vulnerability and willingness to be taken advantage of, represented by the image of sleeping in a lake of navy. The repetition of the number thirty one suggests that this is a significant age for the singer, perhaps a turning point in their life where they are reevaluating their priorities.
The second verse continues with images of brokenness, both in the singer's own heart and in their relationship with the person they're addressing. However, this is quickly followed by the recognition that despite all of this, the other person has an undeniable ability to turn them on. The repeated use of the phrase "do ya, do ya, do ya" suggests a desperate need for reassurance and validation from the other person, while the line about making them hum evokes a sexual undercurrent to the lyrics.
Overall, Sunday Best is a song about the excitement and uncertainty of new love, and the complicated emotions that come with it.

Love this woman - another great composition and fab clip - she is quite unique but still inspired by the best pop idols going way back to the 60's and 70's, as well as 80's and 90's stars too. I hope she sticks around and can follow up her debut.

It's a real shame this hasn't been updated more consistently. Where's the other great singles from There There? Why do we only have the audio version of Saint Lo, not the video that was released just after? One of the country's finest singers deserves better.

"Do I, do I, do I make you hum?" That's a great line for the modern day romantic. I went to one of Washington's record sell-out gigs at The Corner in Richmond Melbourne last year. If any of you have the chance, check her out. A great aussie female voice!
