It wasn't always about hardstyle for Pontuz & Jon. Before they started producing hardstyle they we're into "hands-up/cheesy-dance" music. It was the track "Scantraxx Rootz" who made them open up their eyes and ears for the harder styles. After that moment they were hooked on hard.
Pontuz had already produced some hardstyle tracks with his "Teequee" alias in 2006-2007, as Jon was continuing with his "cheesy-dance". It wasn't until mid 2008 they decided to start a hardstyle project together, cause' of their big love for hard beats and catchy melodies. Wasted Penguinz was born. You may ask yourself ; "why the strange name!?" well, it was a combination of random brainstorming & lots of beer. So now the journey had begun.
As they were improving their productions they got more knowledge of the hardstyle scene. The time had come to take the next step.Sending some of their tracks to labels they got an answer from a smaller label called Bazz Implant/impMUSIC. Their first release was a fact.
2010 saw the releases Hate Modayz/Resistance as well as Anxiety on the prestigious Scantraxx Silver label. Later in the year, the Penguinz were voted the best Hardstyle New Face of 2010 by the Fear.FM Community.
On February 10th 2020, they announced on their facebook page that Jon would no longer be part of the duo due to personal issues. Pontus will continue the project alone.
Play the Game
Wasted Penguinz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take a walk
Faked pleasure
When nothing really matters
Restrained by the feelings
Flawless encounters
Time is running out
Waiting for the battle
Resistance is not an option
Let the game be your path
You wanna play a game
Take a walk
Faked pleasure
When nothing really matters
Restrained by the feelings
Flawless encounters
Time is running out
You wanna play a game [x2]
The lyrics to "Play the game" by Wasted Penguinz are metaphorical and could have multiple interpretations. It could be about the ups and downs of a relationship or life in general. The lyrics suggest that someone wants to play a game, but it's not a game in the traditional sense, it's a metaphor for life.
The first verse describes taking a walk and faking pleasure, which could indicate that someone is going through the motions of life, but not really enjoying it. The line "when nothing really matters" could suggest that the person is feeling disillusioned or detached from the world around them. The line "restrained by the feelings" could be a reference to the emotional blocks that someone may put up to avoid facing their true feelings.
The second verse continues the theme of the game, suggesting that someone has realized that life is a game that they're not sure how to win. "Waiting for the battle" and "resistance is not an option" could mean that someone is at a crossroads and needs to make a choice, but is unsure of what to do.
