King of the Beach features a complete rhythm section comprised of Stephen Pope and Billy Hayes, both formerly of the late Jay Reatard's touring band. They toured for almost a year straight until Hayes left the band for some time off. Jacob Cooper, former drummer of The Mae Shi, has since taken his place. After playing the major festival circuit, Nathan started his own record label Ghost Ramp and released the Life Sux EP on September 20th 2011.
On March 26, 2013 Wavves released their 4th studio album "Afraid of Heights" on Mom + Pop records. Jacob Cooper left the band in 2013. Brian Hill (The Soft Pack/The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower) began playing drums soon after.
Wavves' fifth album entitled "V" was released on October 2, 2015 through Ghost Ramp and Warner Bros. Records.

I'm stealing all the air
Unseated, still dizzy
From acting like I care
I think I'm dying
Maybe I'm thirsty
I think I must be drunk
I think I must be drunk
I'll always be on my own
Fucked and alone
I'll always be on my own
I'll always be on my own
I'm a pre-, you drain me
It's dripping everywhere
I'm ugly, you're boring
I can't act like I care
I think I'm dying
Maybe I'm thirsty
I think I must be drunk
Woke up and found Jesus
I think I must be drunk
I'll always be on my own
Fucked and alone
I'll always be on my own
I'll always be on my own
There's nothing to prove
There's nothing to do
There's nowhere to go
Got nothing to lose
When it comes to being high
Got nothing to do
Got nothing to do
Nothing to prove
Nothing to prove
Nothing to prove
The lyrics to "Afraid of Heights" by Wavves explore themes of loneliness, isolation, alcoholism, and nihilism. The singer reveals that they feel unseated and dizzy from pretending to care about their own life. The line "I'm stealing all the air" could refer to feeling suffocated or overwhelmed by the weight of their issues. The following lines suggest that the singer may suffer from addiction ("Maybe I'm thirsty, I think I must be drunk"), as they seem to use alcohol as their coping mechanism.
The chorus, "I'll always be on my own, fucked and alone," highlights the singer's feelings of isolation and hopelessness. The second verse is directed towards someone else, possibly a love interest, who drains them emotionally. The singer describes themselves as "ugly" and the other person as "boring," suggesting a lack of attraction or chemistry. However, the singer cannot seem to let go, as they continue to pretend to care despite feeling emotionally drained.
The repeated lines "there's nothing to prove" and "nothing to do" could represent the singer's nihilistic worldview, where they believe nothing matters and there is no purpose in life. The final lines "when it comes to being high, got nothing to do" suggest that the singer uses drugs to escape their problems and that they do not have any other hobbies or interests.
Overall, "Afraid of Heights" explores the struggles of mental health, substance abuse, and a lack of purpose in life. The lyrics express the singer's internal conflict and emotional turmoil, which many can relate to.
