King of the Beach features a complete rhythm section comprised of Stephen Pope and Billy Hayes, both formerly of the late Jay Reatard's touring band. They toured for almost a year straight until Hayes left the band for some time off. Jacob Cooper, former drummer of The Mae Shi, has since taken his place. After playing the major festival circuit, Nathan started his own record label Ghost Ramp and released the Life Sux EP on September 20th 2011.
On March 26, 2013 Wavves released their 4th studio album "Afraid of Heights" on Mom + Pop records. Jacob Cooper left the band in 2013. Brian Hill (The Soft Pack/The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower) began playing drums soon after.
Wavves' fifth album entitled "V" was released on October 2, 2015 through Ghost Ramp and Warner Bros. Records.
Destroy
Wavves Lyrics

Try to do different things
But I don't know how
Where do I go from here now
My world is ending
I know I gotta get out
I can't pick myself up off the couch
But I don't know how
Where do I go from here now
This world is ending
I know I gotta get out
Destroy (x4)
I can't seem to get out of shroud
Pissed off mom but did dad proud
So he's taking me out of here now
Cause your world is ending
I don't belong here now
It's time to destroy
Destroy (x4)
In Wavves' song "Destroy", the persona is going through a difficult time, feeling stuck and helpless. The repetition of the line "I can't pick myself up off the ground/couch" conveys a feeling of defeat and inability to move forward. The persona is willing to try different things to change but doesn't know how, indicating a lack of direction and purpose. The uncertainty about what to do next is emphasized in the line "where do I go from here now", which reflects a sense of despair and hopelessness.
The line "my world is ending" suggests that the persona is going through a crisis, which can be either external or internal. Regardless, the persona knows that they need to get out of the current situation, hence the line "I know I gotta get out". The repetition of "destroy" at the end of each verse seems to be a call to action, a way to empower and motivate the persona to take control of their life and change things for the better, even if it means destroying what exists.
The final verse adds more depth to the persona's situation, with the reference to a "pissed off mom" and a dad who did proud. This ambiguous family dynamic suggests that the persona might be dealing with some unresolved issues or trauma that add to their feeling of being lost and disconnected. However, the persona seems to have found a way out, as reflected in the line "he's taking me out of here now", which may suggest that the persona is leaving home to start afresh.
