King of the Beach features a complete rhythm section comprised of Stephen Pope and Billy Hayes, both formerly of the late Jay Reatard's touring band. They toured for almost a year straight until Hayes left the band for some time off. Jacob Cooper, former drummer of The Mae Shi, has since taken his place. After playing the major festival circuit, Nathan started his own record label Ghost Ramp and released the Life Sux EP on September 20th 2011.
On March 26, 2013 Wavves released their 4th studio album "Afraid of Heights" on Mom + Pop records. Jacob Cooper left the band in 2013. Brian Hill (The Soft Pack/The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower) began playing drums soon after.
Wavves' fifth album entitled "V" was released on October 2, 2015 through Ghost Ramp and Warner Bros. Records.
Sail To The Sun
Wavves Lyrics

So I tell you what I'm gonna do to get by
I'm gonna pick you up in my arms, give you all of my love
Soon we'll never find mine
First we gotta get high
And sail to the sun, chances are none
Oh, but we'll all die, that's just the way we live
I don't wanna, get left behind
So I tell you what I'm gonna do to get by
I'm gonna pick you up in my arms, give you all of my love
Soon we'll never find mine
First we gotta get high
And sail to the sun, chances are none
Oh, but we'll all die, that's just the way we live
In a grave, in a grave, in a grave
In a grave, in a grave
In a grave, in a grave, in a grave
In a grave, in a grave, in a grave
Uhu, uhu, uhu, uhu, uhu, uhu
The lyrics of Wavves’ “Sail To The Sun” convey a sense of urgency and desperation to escape reality. The singer wants to avoid falling behind in life, so he plans to pick up someone he loves, get high, and embark on a journey to the sun. The repeated phrase “sail to the sun” can be interpreted both literally and metaphorically. It could mean actually sailing to the sun, as the singer wants to escape from reality and experience something that seems impossible. On the other hand, it could represent a metaphorical journey towards something great and unknown, with the sun symbolizing this goal. The line “chances are none” suggests a realization that their journey may not be successful in achieving this goal, but they are still willing to take the chance. The refrain “in a grave” hints at the inevitable end of life for all humans, making their journey to the sun seem even more desperate.
Overall, the song lyrics may speak to a generation of young people who feel a sense of hopelessness in the face of the future. The desire to escape from reality and embark on a dangerous journey towards an unknown goal may be a manifestation of this hopelessness. At the same time, the song can be seen as a call to action, urging people to take risks and pursue their dreams even in the face of daunting obstacles.
