After two EP's, he released his first album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies in March 2005, mixing hip-hop, downtempo and trip-hop, and a second, Hope & Sorrow in April 2007.
After being a host on a French radio in the Paris suburb of Mantes-La-Jolie, JC Le Saoût started the French Rap band La Formule in the 1990's. He created his label Lab'Oratoire in 1998 and produced records from La Formule as well as Break Beat compilations and a collaboration with the Swedish band Looptroop.
He began work on the Wax Tailor project in 2001, first appearing on a remix of Looptroop & La Formule's "Breathing Under Water". Wax Tailor's first EP Lost The Way was released in 2004 and features contributions from Charlotte Savary, Marina Quaisse, and Big Dada rapper Infinite Livez. Other musicians who have appeared alongside Wax Tailor include North Carolina Hip-Hop duo The Others, Ursula Rucker, Sharon Jones, Voice and A State Of Mind.
His second album Hope & Sorrow was nominated for "Best Electronic Album" at the 2008 Victoires de la Musique, a French music award ceremony.
Wax Tailor uses samples in his music as film directors use actors. His record is conceived as an orchestral movie between hip-hop and downtempo where Wax Tailor hijacks “The forgotten melodies” and tells a story of his own where each track is a sequence. In this large patchwork of numerous influences and multiple references to the seventh art, major names of the twentieth century music (Doris Day, Nina Simone...) could get a chance to meet Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen or Alfred Hitchcock
Our Dance
Wax Tailor Lyrics

Let's begin
The turn of the day
When all music fools come out to play
Until the drunk turn of night
So many chicks to greet
And beautiful faces unseen
So many stories to hear
So many chicks to greet
And beautiful faces unseen
What they were building? No one could say
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah!
At the turn of the night
We all wonder and chuckle in the lights
Until every floor is sought through
Such crazy behaviors
Such noise in our ears
Let's all change gears
Such crazy behaviors
Such noise in our ears
Let's all change gears
If we you really need to express something
But I don't know what it is I want to express...
Or how to express it?
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Ah! Ah! Ah!
Before this night ends
I will mingle and find you
Until your hand is in my hand
So much sweat and laughter
So much for electric beats
And spark when you come so sweet
So much sweat and laughter
So much for electric beats
And spark when you come so sweet
Thank you for a lovely evening
Good night, it's been charming
At the turn of the day
When words become syllables
Will you remember our dance?
I ask myself that question all the time
At the turn of the day
When words become syllables
Will you remember our dance?
Ah! you remember that?
Something I should never forget
The lyrics to Wax Tailor's song "Our Dance" describe a night out where people gather to dance and have a good time. The focus is on the energy of the night, the stories being shared, the faces, and crazy behavior. The singer is trying to express something, but they're not quite sure what it is, and they're hoping that the connection they made on the dance floor will remain even after the night is over.
The song begins with the turn of the day, a time when the music starts and people begin to arrive. There's excitement in the air as the night unfolds, and people dance until the drunk turn of night. The party anthem is at its peak with people mingling, meeting new people, and connecting with someone special. The singer describes the beautiful faces that remain unseen and how the night builds and builds until no one knows what is going on.
As the night goes on, the music becomes louder, and the behavior becomes crazier. The singer admits to trying to express something but is unsure of how to do it. They wonder if the connection that was made on the dance floor will last until the turn of the day when words become syllables, or will they forget about it? The song ends with the singer reflecting on the night and thanking everyone for a lovely evening.
