After two EP's, he released his first album Tales of the Forgotten Melodies in March 2005, mixing hip-hop, downtempo and trip-hop, and a second, Hope & Sorrow in April 2007.
After being a host on a French radio in the Paris suburb of Mantes-La-Jolie, JC Le Saoût started the French Rap band La Formule in the 1990's. He created his label Lab'Oratoire in 1998 and produced records from La Formule as well as Break Beat compilations and a collaboration with the Swedish band Looptroop.
He began work on the Wax Tailor project in 2001, first appearing on a remix of Looptroop & La Formule's "Breathing Under Water". Wax Tailor's first EP Lost The Way was released in 2004 and features contributions from Charlotte Savary, Marina Quaisse, and Big Dada rapper Infinite Livez. Other musicians who have appeared alongside Wax Tailor include North Carolina Hip-Hop duo The Others, Ursula Rucker, Sharon Jones, Voice and A State Of Mind.
His second album Hope & Sorrow was nominated for "Best Electronic Album" at the 2008 Victoires de la Musique, a French music award ceremony.
Wax Tailor uses samples in his music as film directors use actors. His record is conceived as an orchestral movie between hip-hop and downtempo where Wax Tailor hijacks “The forgotten melodies” and tells a story of his own where each track is a sequence. In this large patchwork of numerous influences and multiple references to the seventh art, major names of the twentieth century music (Doris Day, Nina Simone...) could get a chance to meet Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen or Alfred Hitchcock
We Be

And then at the fireplace with it flickering light
And realised why this world would never be right
Then I through another lump on the fire
We be, uh huh
We be, hmm hmm
Travelling down the highway of the enemy
We be
Joining the endless convoy of cultural hegemony
We be
Missing the forest for the trees 'cause
We can't see the evils that men do on TV
In the movies, overseas and right here on our streets
We be
Opting for vain glory over humility
We need, we need to break the convoy line
Get the hell off the highway
Take the road less travelled
'Cause that moral fiber you thought was so tightly woven
It's unravelling, it's unravelled
I hate to tell y'all, it's unravelled
Why do you insist on keeping us caged
You know all that does intensified rage
The world know this is the time
And all power to the people
Power to the people
We be
Say, I'm standing on my soapbox again
Say, I'm one of those conscious artist
Talking that "change the world" shit again
Say, I might be just a bit too dramatic
Slash overzealous about what I see
As the human spirit's dive into uncertainty
Say what you like, say what you like
'Cause I'll be all those things you say
All night and all day
Before I allow myself and soul
To wither away into, indistinctness
Live a half-life of blissfull ignorance
Never take another chance, another chance
Do the latest dance with the devil
And lose my dreams for all we could be
Lose my dreams for all we could be
We be
Why do you insist on keeping us caged
You know all that does intensified rage
The world know this is the time
And all power to the people
Power to the people
We be
Many, so many
Many, like the number of death threats
That now come used to get
We be
Many, oh so many
Many, like the multitude of souls lost in the wars of men
Over gold, over power, over die and hate
We be
Many, so so many
Many, like the lies of pell the truth
The coward lies of profits and power bungers
Told to a cryer faith
To steal land to oppressed people
We be, the oppressed peoples
We be
We be
Why can't we be
More peaceful
Why can't we be
Nicer to one another
Why can't we be
We be
What we were meant to be
Love
Why do you insist on keeping us caged
You know all that does intensified rage
The world know this is the time
And all power to the people
Power to the people
We be
We be, uh huh, hmm, hmm
In the first verse of the song, the lyrics describe the singer looking at the full moon and the flickering light of a fireplace. The singer then reflects on the state of the world and comes to the conclusion that it will never be right. The line "Then I through another lump on the fire" can be interpreted as a metaphor for the singer trying to contribute something positive to the world, despite the inherent negativity.
The second verse talks about "We" travelling down the "highway of the enemy" which can be interpreted as conforming to societal norms and cultural hegemony, and not seeing the evils that men do on TV, movies, and even on the streets. The singer urges the listener to break the convoy line and take the road less travelled, which can be seen as a call to action for individual bravery and taking a stand against societal norms.
The chorus repeats "We be" several times and it can be interpreted as a statement of identity, be it as "conscious artists" or simply as human beings. The final verse talks about the various reasons why society is divided and oppressed, including greed for power and wealth, lies told by those in authority, and the oppression of certain groups of people. The song ends with a plea for peace, kindness, and love.
