Bloody Sunrise
Wayland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Black tires on a dirt road
Down in Arkansas
Young lovers in an old truck
Out running from the law
And there was blood on the dashboard
There was blood on their hands
Caught in the middle
They had to kill that man
And as they burned through the night
Like a bullet to the sky
We might not make it out alive
I'm not going down without a fight
Running from the devil to the end of time
We've got tonight together
Gonna run all night
To a bloody sunrise
In the back of a dive bar
Cutting up the deal
Yeah she was counting out the money
That's when it all got real
All of a sudden they were guns drawn
And scream out loud
Somebody pointed a forty-five at us baby
Oh, he had to shoot that man down
And as they burned through the night
Like a bullet to the sky
We might not make it out alive
I'm not going down without a fight
Running from the devil to the end of time
We've got tonight together
We might not make it out alive
I'm not going down without a fight
Running from the devil to the end of time
We're gonna be alright
Gonna run all night
To a bloody
Red lights in the mirror
White knuckles on the wheel
The worlds closing in and I'll pay for my sins
When I get to the end but tonight we will fight for our lives

We might not make it out alive
I'm not going down without a fight
Running from the devil to the end of time
We've got tonight together
We might not make it out alive
I'm not going down without a fight
Running from the devil to the end of time
We're gonna be alright
We might not make it out alive
I'm not going down without a fight
We might not make it out alive
Gonna run all night
Gonna run all night

Gonna run all night
To a bloody sunrise

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Wayland's song "Bloody Sunrise" paint a picture of a thrilling and violent story of two lovers on the run from the law. The narrative focuses on two different instances where the couple found themselves in grave danger and, subsequently, had to kill in order to survive. The song begins with the couple driving down a dirt road in Arkansas, being chased by the authorities, with blood on the dashboard and their hands. Caught in the heat of the moment and the fear of what might happen to them, they "had to kill that man". As they continue to flee through the night, they know that their chances of making it out alive are slim, but they vow to fight until the end.

Later in the song, the story switches to a dive bar where the couple is cutting a deal and counting money. However, things quickly take a turn for the worst when guns are drawn, and they are forced to kill again. They escape by burning through the night, but they know that there is no turning back now. Despite the violence and danger they face, the couple is determined to make it through the night together, even if it means running towards a bloody sunrise.

Overall, "Bloody Sunrise" is a haunting tale of love and violence, highlighting the intense emotions that can arise when faced with extreme circumstances. With its powerful lyrics and heart-pumping beat, the song captures the essence of a high-stakes action thriller, leaving listeners on the edge of their seats until the very end.

Who in God's Holy name are the 42 people that gives this a thumbs down? I've seen these guys at least seven times, they've met my 76 year old mother, she got an autographed t-shirt and a hug from Mitch. Mitch, Phill, Dean, and Nigel are the real deal. Best band out there today.

These guys are fresh. Heard this song in a movie called Death Alley. Not sure how accurate the movie was on the Dalton Gang, but this song was a welcome surprise. The band seems well-rounded and fun, not to mention talented. Made me enjoy rock again. Wish I could see them live, but don't know if they will come through Utah. Maybe Las Vegas though.

god I cant believe I've been searching for this song for 6 years. I remember a bit of the chorus being stuck in my head for the longest time. But finally, after those 2 words popped up in my head, I decided to look it up. And whaddya know, I find it. Really good song, such an earworm.
