Rebound
Wayman Tisdale Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I saw you
Like an effervescence of sunrise
So electric
Like the blinding fire of starlight
In every set
You've got me so alive
You've opened up my eyes from the dark
To your twilight dawn
Every trees and shadows
Faith through heaven's window
Every dawn I had is gone
To your twilight dawn
In the pieces
Of a golden star this night
You would glimpse me
Descend my fall tonight
In every set
You've got me so alive
You've opened up my eyes from the dark
To your twilight dawn
Every trees and shadows
Faith through heaven's window
Every dawn I had is gone
To your twilight dawn
Ohohoooho
Ohohoooho

Every dawn I had is gone
To your twilight dawn

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Wayman Tisdale's song "Rebound," featuring Dave Koz, paint a vivid picture of the singer's experience upon seeing someone they are clearly smitten with. The introductory lines liken the person to an effervescence of sunrise and the blinding fire of starlight. The imagery of brightness and energy suggests that this person is a source of light in the singer's life. The lyrics continue to describe the impact of this person's presence: they make the singer feel alive and have opened up their eyes in a sense, as though they were previously living in the dark.

The singer also hints at some sort of spiritual experience, mentioning "faith through heaven's window." This could suggest that being with this person has opened up a new world of possibility, which includes a connection with something divine. Finally, the repetition of the phrase "to your twilight dawn" is one of the most prominent refrains in the song. It suggests that being with this person feels like a new beginning, or like the start of a new day.

Overall, "Rebound" is a song about the transformative power of a new relationship, with celestial and spiritual undertones.

He really made some great music. You can clearly tell music was his first love as he stated. Such high quality music. I miss him:(

Is nobody going to talk about how great those steel drums sound in a smooth jazz song? I'm beyond impressed with this one.

Why is it the "great" ones are taken long before they deserve to die? I followed Tisdale from college into the pros than as he transitioned into his musical career. He was a role model on so many levels. Wayman will forever hold a special spot in my heart; now and forever.

One of my favorite bassist along with Victor Wooten, Stanley Clarke and new comer Julian Vaughn. Wayman's style was so smooth and relaxing. I was introduced to his music about 20 years ago while I was in college and purchased every CD he ever made. The closet bassist I've found that mirrors his style is Julian Vaughn. Rest in Love Wayman, your music lives on
