Game Of Love
Wayne Fontana Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The purpose of a man is to love a woman
And the purpose of a woman is to love a man
So come on, baby, let's start today, come on, baby, let's play
The game of love, love, love, love, la la la la la love

It started long ago in the garden of Eden
When Adam said to Eve, "Baby, you're for me"
So come on, baby, let's start today, come on, baby, let's play
The game of love, love, love, love, la la la la la love (oh)

Come on, baby, 'cause the time is right
Love your daddy with all your might
Put your arms around me, hold me tight
Play the game of love

The purpose of a man is to love a woman
And the purpose of a woman is to love a man
So come on, baby, let's start today, come on, baby, let's play
The game of love, love, love, love, la la la la la love

Yeah, (oh yeah) whoa, yeah (oh yeah)
Well come on, baby, 'cause the time is right
Love your daddy with all your might
Put your arms around me, hold me tight
Play the game of love

The purpose of a man is to love a woman
And the purpose of a woman is to love a man
So come on, baby, let's start today, come on, baby, let's play
The game of (love) love, (love) love, la la la la la love

The game of love, baby, the game of la la la la la love

The game of love, baby, the game of la la la la la love
The game of love, baby

What an awsome entry. Still should be a must for every school and garage band. This is how you begin a show when you enter a stage "step by step" when the stage was not fully prepaired before. Never get bored of this one.

Yep, Eric Stewart later of 10cc is the guitarist in the lighter jacket next to Wayne Fontana, and was lead vocalist on the mindbenders hit groovy kind of love. This song tell it straight. Men and women are made to naturally love each other which is why they mention the garden of Eden from the bible. The rubbish we hear about these days with LBGTQ tries to undermine that but can't or we would all become extinct.

I’m reading Eric’s book right now. Superb read.

I just happened to come across this and sent private to my ‘Ole man, marrieds 40 yrs now. He’s a bit older than me. He replied he remembers this song. At 70 yrs, me 62, we moved to to south, country~ close to an hour from what was only minutes away from where we grew up., from the Pacific coast all our lives. Raised our youngins there. Lovin it here . His hair now in his eyes like the musicians in this band. Brought back feel good memories. Thank you @ZackyDog

It’s true. The purpose of a man is to love his woman and the purpose of a woman is to love her man. After all these yrs, now in our twilight, a woman needs to take the initiative now and hug her man tight. Out of the blue, for he held me tight all theses yrs, let me hold him tight now.
Lovin this song, how I miss that tambourine. Real music. Thanks again
