In April 2009, We Are the In Crowd's Myspace page was hacked. The hacker deleted all of their friends and music. The music site Absolutepunk.net posted a news article regarding the hacking, and the news post attracted the attention of someone at Hopeless Records who contacted the band shortly after. On November 10, 2009, the group announced their signing with Hopeless Records as "The In Crowd" and released their first single "For the Win" on iTunes. The band changed their name to "We Are the In Crowd" due to trademark issues with a reggae band from the seventies who were also called "The In Crowd"
In February 2009, We Are the In Crowd recorded their debut Hopeless Records EP with producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount (All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Jimmy Eat World, Cartel). The EP, titled Guaranteed To Disagree, was released on June 8, 2010.
The music video for "Both Sides of the Story" was officially released on October 15, 2010. The music video for "Never Be What You Want" was released on April 20, 2011. The band performed on the Vans Warped Tour for Summer 2010.
The band entered the studio in early May 2011 to begin recording their full length debut. On August 3, 2011 it was announced the album would be titled Best Intentions and that it would be released on October 4. It debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 at No. 122.

Honestly, I think I'm gonna freak out
This isn't where I wanna be, wanna be
I think I'll let myself out
Show me the door, oh
'Cause I'm leaving the way I came in
With the mess I made
Tonight will be the one to set it off
We had our lights on the town
Your eyes were smiling then
You left me hanging around with all your wack friends
You don't take me serious
Boy, you make me furious
Guaranteed, we'll disagree
I found out finding out isn't the worst part
Don't believe it's just me
And I've found out
Do you really even have a clue?
You're not quite Satan, but I really think I hate you
We had our place in time, this is now that we spend
You've left me high and dry with all your stuck-up friends
You don't take me serious
Girl, you're just delirious
Guaranteed, we'll disagree
I found out finding out isn't the worst part
Don't believe it's just me
And I've found out
Do you really even have a clue?
You're not quite Satan, but I really think I hate you
If this is what you think is honest
Honestly, I think I'm gonna freak out
This isn't where I wanna be, wanna be
I think I'll let myself out
Show me the door, oh
'Cause I'm leaving the way I came in
With the mess I made
Tonight will be the one to set it off
Tonight will be the one
I found out finding out isn't the worst part
Don't believe it's just me
And I've found out
Do you really even have a clue?
You're not quite Satan, but I, I
I found out finding out isn't the worst part
Don't believe it's just me
And I've found out
Do you even fucking have a clue?
You're not quite Satan, but I really think I hate you
You're not quite Satan, but I
You're not quite Satan, but I really think I hate you
The lyrics to "Both Sides of the Story" by We Are the In Crowd explore the frustration and anger that come with a relationship that is not working. The singer is feeling trapped and unhappy in the relationship, and is ready to leave. The chorus repeats the line, "If this is what you think is honest, honestly, I think I'm gonna freak out," which emphasizes the dishonesty and lack of communication in the relationship. The singer declares that they will leave, and that the night will be the one to set it off.
The second verse shifts the perspective to the singer's partner, as they describe how they feel left out and disrespected by them, and they are tired of the constant arguing and disagreement. The bridge repeats the line "I found out finding out isn't the worst part," which could be interpreted as a realization that it is better to know the truth than to be kept in the dark.
Overall, the lyrics express the frustration and pain that comes with a relationship falling apart, and the sense of urgency to move on and find something better.

This band is awesome. This is what it sounds like when you mix a concoction of 1997, Paramore, M80 firecrackers, and bottlerockets. Then, you light it on fire and watch it explode into an amazing sound.
