But I can't, can't, can't see past this crowd,
But I know, that I can feel it, yeah I can feel it.
I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend.
I don't want to be like everyone else,
Follow me through the crowd right now, follow me through the crowd right now.
But I know that I can feel it, yeah I can feel it.
I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am.
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend.
There's no one there so I'll pretend.
Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
Let's all make out that we're somebody else.
Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
Let's all make out that we're somebody else.
I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am.
And I'm always looking to the mirror there's no one there so I'll pretend.
I'm always looking for an answer, something to tell me who I am.
(Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
let's all make out that we're somebody else)
And I'm always looking to the mirror, there's no one there so I'll pretend.
(Let's all make out that we're somebody else,
Let's all make out that we're somebody else)
In We Are the Ocean's song "Look Alive", the lyrics express feelings of confusion and uncertainty about one's identity and place in the world. The singer is hoping to learn how to live their life but feels lost in the "crowd" of other people who seem to have it all figured out. Despite feeling alone, the singer can feel something inside of them that gives them hope and motivates them to keep searching for answers.
The chorus of the song, "Let's all make out that we're somebody else", suggests a desire to escape from the pressure of fitting in and conforming to societal expectations. The singer doesn't want to be like everyone else who follows the same rules and has the same answers. Instead, they urge the listener to "follow me" and forge their own path.
Overall, the lyrics to "Look Alive" speak to the universal struggle of finding one's identity and purpose in life. The song encourages listeners to embrace their individuality and not be afraid to be different.
