Broken Statues
We Came As Romans Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Let me wash them clean.
Show me your hands,
Let me wash them clean.
We all need this to be renewed,
After time and wear.
Vines intertwined around your insides.
Hold you down.
You beg for restoration.
Your best has crumbled,
From being so weathered.
We all deserve this,
To be renewed,
To change our ways,
To be allowed to choose.
So let me build you back up.
As you're carrying me too.
As you're carrying me too.
Show me your hands,
Let me wash them clean.
Show me your heart,
And let me heal you.
We will mend statues from
The ground to the skies.
We will mend statues from
The ground to the skies.
We will mend statues from
The ground to the skies.
We will mend statues from
The ground to the skies.
Show me your hands,
Let me wash them clean.
Show me your heart,
And let me heal you.
We will mend statues from
The ground to the skies.
We will mend statues from
The ground to the skies.
The lyrics to "Broken Statues" by We Came As Romans convey a message of renewal, healing and restoration. The song primarily challenges the listener to reveal their vulnerabilities and imperfections, represented by the metaphor of broken statues, which have crumbled over time and weathered the storms of life. The lines "Show me your hands, Let me wash them clean" suggests that the singer intends to cleanse away the past and give new life to their brokenness. In the opening lines, the repeated refrain to "let me wash them clean" evokes religious imagery of forgiveness and redemption, as if the lyrics tap into the idea of a second chance or a new beginning.
The song stresses the need for restoration and change, with the lyrics "We all deserve this, to be renewed, to change our ways, to be allowed to choose." The song also highlights that we all need each other to achieve this renewal and restoration. As one person is trying to rebuild another, they are simultaneously being carried, creating a sense of mutual support, and promoting the importance of helping one another, even in times of personal struggle.
Overall, Broken Statues offers a message of healing and redemption, urging the listener to recognize and accept their faults and to allow others to help them in rebuilding themselves. The repeated lyrics emphasize the idea that there is always hope for a better tomorrow.

1 yr old comment but I have to say it. Kyle Pavone, their clean vocalist has sadly passed away a while ago. I couldn’t bring myself to listen to them after that, up until now. Enjoy your stay friend.
