The lyrics of the song Pie Jesu by Andrew Lloyd Webber are in Latin and translate to “Merciful Jesus, who takes away the sins of the world, give them rest.” The repetition of “pie Jesu” in the song creates an intense emotion of pleading with Jesus for mercy. The belief in Jesus as a savior who can take away sins is a significant aspect of Christianity.
The sorrowful tone of the song is emphasized by the melodic structure and the use of the choir. The repetition of “Dona eis requiem” meaning “give them rest,” underscores the plea for the souls of the dead to be given eternal rest. The lines “Agnus Dei” meaning “Lamb of God” is a reference to Jesus as a sacrificial lamb, who takes on the sins of humanity.
Overall, the song Pie Jesu is an emotional plea for the mercy of Jesus and a prayer that the souls of the dead may be given eternal rest.

I looked this up because of Malaki's performance as well. It makes me cry everytime I hear it but I cant stop listening. I imagine this is the "muzak" of Heaven.

I certainly am. I remember it well when it was first released. It's an absolutely exquisite performance and setting of this sacred text. It still brings tears to my eyes. I also remember first hearing it to the soundtrack from where the images of this video come: a film called Hope & Glory.
