Ween self-released several cassette albums from their formation until 1989. Afterward, they put out three officially-released lo-fi albums: GodWeenSatan: The Oneness (1990); The Pod (1991); and Pure Guava (1992). For Pure Guava, the band signed with major label Elektra Records. The album spawned the single "Push th' Little Daisies", which was a chart hit in Australia and the United States. Under Elektra, the band released four professionally-recorded albums: Chocolate and Cheese (1994); 12 Golden Country Greats (1996); The Mollusk (1997); and White Pepper (2000). They later returned to independent labels for their albums Quebec (2003) and La Cucaracha (2007). After a 28-year run, Freeman quit the band in 2012, citing the need to focus on his alcohol and drug addiction issues. Ween reformed in late 2015 and toured extensively with no stated plans to release new recorded material.
For their first ten years of existence, Ween performed live as a duo backed by a Digital Audio Tape. With the release of Chocolate and Cheese, they expanded to a four-piece act, later adding a fifth member as well. Their live members include Claude Coleman Jr., Dave Dreiwitz, and Glenn McClelland. Ween also collaborated extensively with Andrew Weiss, who joined the band as a bassist in 1989 and also produced five of their nine studio albums. Despite never receiving much mainstream recognition, Ween developed a large, devoted cult following and garnered critical acclaim.

We in the mood to do our thang right now - mo hey now
Sunnyfish - melon jelly - ballin' the jack at the meatwagon now

I'm in the mood to whip your body with a tire iron
Coon dog - ground hog - poop log - 3 times, goddammit
Coon dog - ground hog - poop log - 3 times, goddammit
Coon dog - ground hog - poop log - 1 time
The song "I'm in the Mood to Move" by Ween presents an interesting interpretation of the human desire to release energy and move with uncontrolled abandon. The lyrics describe a need to move in various directions, with seemingly no specific motivation or purpose other than to satisfy the yearning for movement. The repetition of the phrase "goddammit" gives the song a raw and primal feel, emphasizing the singer's urge to escape the confines of social norms and expectations.
The opening lines of the song, "I'm in the mood to move to the left 3 feet, goddammit, I'm in the mood to slide to the right hundred feet, goddammit" suggest both a physical and emotional desire to explore new directions. The singer's choice of words "goddammit" may reflect frustration or rebellion against societal norms, suggesting a need to break free from the constraints of daily life. The following lines mention falling down stairs and flying 12 feet in the air, expressing a desire for transcendence, risk-taking, and experimentation.
The song's lyrics are not completely serious, but seem to encourage listeners to let loose and have fun, indulging in the primal urge to dance with abandon. The mention of food items such as sunnyfish and melon jelly, along with the cultural reference to "ballin' the jack," a popular dance from the early 1900s, further emphasizes this lighthearted and carefree vibe.
