1. WEEP, also known as Doc Hammer's Weep is an American rock band from New York City whose music combines elements of shoegazing, post-punk and synthpop. Formed in 2008 by singer and guitarist Doc Hammer, formerly of Requiem in White and Mors Syphilitica, the band's lineup also includes Fred Macaraeg on bass guitar, Alex Dziena on keyboards, and Bill Kovalcik on drums.
Their debut EP Never Ever was released in 2008, followed in 2010 by the full-length album Worn Thin and a remix EP, 6 Interpretations.
In January 2011 WEEP released a digital single for Lay There and Drown and The Hole, two songs from Never Ever that Hammer remixed, remastered, and re-recorded some vocal parts for. The following month, on Valentine's Day, the band gave away a free music download of a cover version of Bauhaus' 1981 single The Passion of Lovers.
WEEP's music has been described as dark and expansive, with "shimmering guitars and spacy synthesizers". Hammer's singing voice has been noted for its gravelly, robotic qualities which provide a counterpoint to the lush song arrangements. Critics have compared the band to a number of post-punk, alternative rock, and shoegaze acts of the 1980s and 1990s.
2. Blend infectious melodies, tight harmonies, and an in your face modern funk rock style with lyrics that echo the human condition, and you emerge with a uniquely diverse sound that heals, transforms and promotes love and peace; the sound of the 5 individuals known as WEEP, who together, bring the music to life, and take the listener on a journey of true emotions! WEEP's journey began in Minneapolis, MN, with Robin Lynn Winkelmann, Kim Paschke, and former bassist Kristine Gretillat. Taking a detour to Ithaca, NY, where they recorded two CDs, and toured endlessly on the East Coast, (including frequent returns to New York City and the now defunct CBGB’s), Kim and Robin, on the heels of Kristine’s departure from WEEP, have continued the journey to their current home in Central Florida, where they are now gracing stages with their new, very talented lineup: Keyboardist Melanie England, Drummer Rhonda 'G' Attkisson, Guitarist Suzanne Daly, Kim now on bass and Robin. With over 3 hours of original music, electrifying live performances, and their newly released EP, “Rock It”, this group of women is captivating listeners and spreading the message of peace far and wide with their hook-laden songs and their magnetic appeal!

A Reminder
Weep Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Burns down your frail shame
And turns away
Just as sunlight
Begins to ignite
The card you play
Keep saying
And remind me
So I will not forget
And you'll understand
This painted land is real
Always worried
They'll see how you feel
And the colors mixed
In hands made out of clay
Always worried
They'll find out one day
Just as sunlight
Begins to ignite
The card you play
Lonesome your cold face
Sadly so commonplace
...Is everything
The lyrics to Weep's song A Reminder delve into themes of shame, fear, and vulnerability. The song begins with the idea that over time, a new start can burn away any feelings of frailty or shame. The lyrics suggest that the light of a new beginning can illuminate the way forward and lead to a more positive outlook. The line "Begins to ignite the card you play" suggests that with a fresh perspective, we can start anew and take control of our lives.
The chorus of the song urges the listener to keep reminding the singer about the lessons they have learned. The repetition of the phrase "keep saying" suggests that the lessons must be repeated in order for them to stick. The singer acknowledges that they need to be reminded so that they do not forget the knowledge gained by overcoming their struggles.
The second verse of the song continues to explore themes of vulnerability and fear. The "painted land" is a metaphor for life and the colors mixed in "hands made out of clay" suggest the fragility of human existence. The fear of being seen or found out is a common theme among those who struggle with shame or vulnerability. The final lines of the song, "Lonesome your cold face, sadly so commonplace, ...Is everything," suggest that this fear and loneliness is a shared experience among many people.
