Dope Nose LIVE
Weezer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hoh
Aah-ah oh
Aah-ah oh
Oh oh oh

Debt on my head
Wasting time, on my own
Sleep, rescue me
Take me back to my home
(Lord, take me home)

For the times that you wanna go
And bust rhymes real slow
I'll appear, slap you on the face
And enjoy the show

Hoh
Aah-ah oh
Aah-ah oh
Oh oh oh

Cheese smells so good
On a burnt piece of lamb (Piece of what?)
Fag of the year
Who could beat up your man

For the times that you wanna go
And bust rhymes real slow
I'll appear, slap you on the face
And enjoy the show
Oh, this dope nose

Hoh
Aah-ah oh
Aah-ah oh
Oh oh oh

For the times that you wanna go
And bust rhymes real slow
I'll appear, slap you on the face
And enjoy the show
Oh, this dope nose

Hoh
Aah-ah oh

Aah-ah oh
Oh oh oh

Overall Meaning

The first few lines of the song "Dope Nose" by Weezer seem to talk about the internal struggles that a person faces when they are in debt and feel like they are wasting their time. The lyrics go as "Debt on my head, wasting time, on my own, sleep rescue me, take me back to my home (Lord, take me home)". The reference to debt may either be that the person has financial debt, or he is emotionally, mentally, or spiritually indebted. This person then seeks refuge in sleep to help him forget about his problems, hoping to return to a place where he feels comfortable and secure.

The following lines of the song, "For the times that you wanna go and bust rhymes real slow, I'll appear, slap you on the face, and enjoy the show," could be interpreted as a reference to the "haters." The people who do not believe in this person, and would rather make fun of them or hold them back. The person is saying that if they ever doubt or make fun of him or her in any way, he will gladly put them in their place and show his talent.

The song then goes on to some seemingly nonsensical lines like "Cheese smells so good on a burnt piece of lamb", and "Fag of the year who could beat up your man". These are things that don't make much sense in terms of the overall message of the song, but it's the kind of irreverent humor that Weezer has become known and loved for. In conclusion, "Dope Nose" could be interpreted as a message of personal struggle, self-confidence, and defiance in the face of adversity.

A shame people say Scott is weighing the band down. This is absolutely amazing?

People who say that are stuck in the 90s lol

Kevin Luper

Who says that?? Scott is fucking great.

Jacob Pullen

It’s literally only because he’s not Matt Sharp. Matt Sharp was the perfect bassist and co-writer for Weezer.

Connor Robertson

Scott is one damn good singer as well as a good bassist
