Feels Like Summer
Weezer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Climbing up the tower
Just a boy and his computer
I'm still in my bathrobe
Hiding in the shadows
I'm not used to losing
Bye, bye, sugar blue eyes
You're home with the angels
Thank you for being so kind

I'm holding on and I don't want to let you go, oh
Yeah, it feels like summer
Yeah, it feels like summer to me
Yeah, it feels like summer
Yeah, it feels like summer to me
And she was a lover to me, to me, to me, to me

Which way is the graveyard?
I'm an iceberg with a warm heart
I'm spiritual, not religious
I'm a Libra, if it matters
Shattered by an email
Your words will fade away
Castle built in the sand
Will only last one day

I'm holding on and I don't want to let you go, oh
Yeah, it feels like summer
Yeah, it feels like summer to me
Yeah, it feels like summer
Yeah, it feels like summer
Yeah, it feels like summer to me
Yeah, it feels like summer
When she was a lover to me

June bride, shine so bright
Flowers in her hair, but it just ain't right
June bride, shine so bright
Flowers in her hair, we look good together, oh yeah
We look good together, oh yeah

Yeah, it feels like summer
Yeah, it feels like summer to me
Yeah, it feels like summer
When she was a lover to me

Let me see the smile, stay with me awhile
I cried for you, you were the song in my life

Let me see the smile, stay with me awhile
I cry for you, you were the song in my life

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Weezer's "Feels Like Summer," released in 2017, embrace the theme of melancholy that is common to the band's music. The opening lines find the singer "climbing up the tower," a metaphor for the isolation and detachment that comes with an addiction to technology. The "boy and his computer" also signify the feeling of disconnect and separation that the singer experiences. His "bathrobe and shadows" suggest a kind of hiding, and the line "I'm not used to losing" could be a reference to a relationship that has ended badly.

The chorus is the hopeful center of the song, with the singer holding on and not wanting to let go. This sense of hope carries the summer feel of the song, which embodies the sanguine expectation of new beginnings that comes with the season. Despite the positive outlook, the lyrics reveal the sense of loss and hurt that comes with a failed relationship. The lines "Which way is the graveyard? I’m an iceberg with a warm heart" could be interpreted as emblematic of the singer's inner struggle. The cemetery may represent the finality of death, while the iceberg may symbolize the singer's cool exterior, which hides his warm nature.

Overall, the song expresses the duality of human emotion and the accompanying highs and lows. The lyrics to "Feels Like Summer" speak to the idea that summer is not always as carefree as it appears, and that the good times are often undercut by a deeper sense of turmoil.

Sounds nothing like the White Album, but I love when Weezer experiments with different styles, and there's nothing cringe about this song at all. It's well produced and has great lyrics!

When it comes to the white album I like one song from that one. There are only 2 weezer albums I don’t like the entirety of and I’m sure you can guess which ones. This is good tho.
