Welle: Erdball's front figure Honey (Dr. G. Linde) is also well known for his involvement in the C64 movement. Welle: Erdball made the music for the Commodore 64 game Metal Dust released by protovision. Welle: Erdball held a concert at the Amiga & Retro computing 2002 fair.
Honey is also active in the goth/synth band Homo:Futura.
The name literally means "radio station: globe", and in fact comes from a German radio play called "Hallo! Hier ist Welle Erdball!". Their logo is a Sachsenring logo turned around.
W:E has been a part of the demoscene and produced several musicdisks and other productions over the years. They also gave a live performance at Breakpoint 2006.
In the early days Welle: Erdball went under the name Feindsender 64,3. Their music was then much more aggressive and punk-like. Some old Feindsender songs reappear on their later albums such as Rosa Zeiten and Telefonsex wich appears on the EP Nyntändoshock but were first on the album "es ist an der Zeit".

Informationsflut
Niemand weiß Bescheid
Mit Gewalt und Kriegen
Werden Kinder konfrontiert
Unbeweglich sitz' ich vor dem TV
Und ich schalt ihn ein
Niemals wird's wie früher sein!
Niemals wird's wie früher sein!
The song "Radio" by Welle: Erdball talks about the changing times and how they have affected the way people consume media. The singer in the song observes the world from afar, seeing people running and shouting while the radio goes silent and the television takes over. The lyrics suggest that these changes have had a profound impact on society, and that things will never be the same again.
The verse "Eiskalte Hände, stählerner Blick / Ein sehr langer Weg bis zum Radio zurück" (Cold hands, steely gaze / A very long way back to the radio) could be interpreted in a few different ways. It might be referring to the distance between the singer and the rest of the world, as if they are watching everything from a far-off place. Alternatively, it could be describing a decline in the importance of radio as a medium, and how it takes more effort to seek it out compared to the omnipresence of television.
The chorus repeats the line "Niemals wird's wie früher sein!" (It will never be like it was before!) which reinforces the idea that the world has changed irrevocably. The bridge touches on the idea of information overload, and how people are bombarded with news of violence and conflict even as they sit passively in front of the television.
Overall, the song "Radio" reflects on how technology has transformed society and the way we interact with the world. It speaks to a sense of nostalgia for a simpler time when the radio was the primary source of information and entertainment, while also acknowledging that progress cannot be stopped.
