Lost In Love
Werle & Stankowski Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rain
Is falling down again
The rollerplades i own
Are hidden under dust

The drops
Are pounding on my door
I giess winter's coming soon
And it won't be the last

I'm lost in love
I'm lost in love
And there's no way leading out

Sometimes i go to take a walk in the park
To meet all my sorrow and pain
That's what i need to get me out of the dark
Though often shadows remain

Oh lord
You lead me through the night
My dreams are full of light
When i wake up i know

That you're here
And yu never disappear
You're standing by my side
Each time i'm down and out

I watch
The city lights from my
Appartments window still
And it gives me such a thrill

That behind
Each shining dot there is

A room with people who
Are all having their own show

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of the song paint the image of rain pouring down again and the singer's rollerblades being left unattended for a long time. Rain is often associated with sadness, and the neglected rollerblades could be a symbol of the singer's neglected passions or desires. The following lines suggest that the approaching winter could be an allegory for the end of a phase of life, or a relationship coming to an end. The chorus, "I'm lost in love, and there's no way leading out," indicates that the singer is trapped and unable to escape the pain and turbulence that has come with love.

Moving on to the second verse, the singer talks about his coping mechanisms - taking a walk in the park to confront his emotions head-on. Even though the method sometimes falls short, there's still a sense of hopelessness that lingers. The mention of meeting 'all my sorrow and pain' is raw and honest, and the following line 'that's what I need to get me out of the dark' depicts how facing one's troubles can be cathartic, but also a scary and lonely process. The 'shadows' that often remain signify the remnants of trauma that stick around even after the conscious confrontation has ended.

The bridge of the song is almost like a prayer or plea, with the singer calling out to a higher power for help - "Oh Lord, You lead me through the night, My dreams are full of light, When I wake up, I know that you're here, and you never disappear." The reference to dreams further highlights the theme of the subconscious, the unconscious and the overwhelming emotions that often occupy them. And the realization that God or a higher power has been a constant source of support is an acknowledgment of the role that faith and spirituality play in healing. The final verse brings things full circle - the singer casually observing the city and drawing inspiration from the diversity, complexity and unpredictability of people's lives. And just like the city lights, there's hope that the singer will find light amidst the darkness of their situation.
