They were signed by Simon Cowell and are managed by Louis Walsh. In 2008, they were declared as Republic of Ireland's ninth-richest celebrities under 30 years old and 13th in general. They garnered 14 number one singles in the United Kingdom, the third-highest in UK history, tying with Cliff Richard and trailing behind only Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Over years of their career, Westlife's music has evolved from teen pop to a pop sound, with an emphasis on ballads. Most of the group's hits have been composed by experienced songwriters, most notably Steve Mac and Wayne Hector.
On 1 June 2008, Westlife marked their 10th anniversary with a concert in Croke Park, Dublin which saw more than 83,000 fans attending the special occasion. Music Week revealed on their website that Westlife is the official third top touring act within the years 2005β2008, while they were 7th top touring act of 2008.
They have announced that they are to split in 2012 after 14 years following a final tour.

When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit a while with me
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains (stand on mountains)
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas (stormy seas)
I am strong (I am strong), when I am on your shoulders (I am strong)
You raise me up, to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains (stand on mountains)
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas (stormy seas)
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up, to more than I can be
You raise me up, to more than I can be
Thank you
You raise me up (thank you)
(Thank you Belfast) stand on mountains)
(It's been an emotion night for everybody)
(Thank you to BBC radio 2 to Zoe Ball) stormy seas
(To everybody for listening and we'll see you very, very soon)
(Good night) I am strong, ooh
To more than I can be
You raise me up, stand on mountains
Stormy seas
I am strong, ooh
To more than I can be, ooh
The lyrics to Westlife's "You Raise Me Up" are a testament to the power of love and support. The first verse sets the tone for the entire song, highlighting the struggles and hardships of life. The lyrics "When I am down and oh my soul so weary, when troubles come and my heart burdened be" speak to the moments in life when we feel overwhelmed and alone.
But in the midst of these struggles, the chorus reminds us that we are not alone. We have someone who lifts us up and helps us to be our best selves. This support allows us to stand tall and conquer the mountains before us. The second verse repeats these sentiments, emphasizing the strength we gain from leaning on someone else.
The repeated refrain of "You raise me up, to more than I can be" serves as a powerful reminder that with the help of others, we can achieve greatness beyond what we ever thought possible. The song ultimately conveys a message of hope, love, and the power of human connection.

I lost my dad to the Covid 19 four days ago. Despite I'm in my mid 30s I was still daddy's girl, I can't imagine life without him. I kept hold of my phone the whole day yesterday hoping that my dad would call me to wish me happy Easter but he never did. It hurts a lot he died alone in the hospital without having me beside him. I love you daddy you will always remain alive in my heart.
