Wet Lyrics

Cool and wet, take me out
Cool and wet, lay me down
I'm on fire, put me out
Like you want me, say you do
Say you need me, cool and wet
Come up for air, hold me down
Today your room felt just like the ocean
Cool and wet, lay me down
Cool and grey, light falls away
You feed this fire and walk away
Don't you want me, say you do
Say you need me, cool and wet
Come up for air, hold me down
Like you want me, just say the words
Just say the words
Just say the words
Just say the words
Two lines move me with their purpose
Forth and back, I fall off track
You leave this fire and don't look back
Don't you want me, say you do
Say you need me, cool and wet
Come up for air, hold me down
Like you want me, just say the words
Don't you want me, say you do
Say you need me, cool and wet
Come up for air, hold me down
Like you want me, just say the words
Don't you want me (just say the words)
Say you need me (just say the words)
Come up for air (just say the words)
Like you want me (just say the words)
The song 'Island' by Wet portrays a feeling of isolation and longing for connection. The lyrics craft a melancholic atmosphere, with the setting being in New York which at the time feels like an island. The cool and wet surroundings may represent the mood of the singer, who wishes to be taken out of their isolation. The phrase "I'm on fire, put me out" may indicate the need for relief from overwhelming emotions that are consuming the singer.
Additionally, the lyrics switch between first and second person pronouns, indicating a conversation that may be taking place between the singer and the person they desire a connection with. The lines "Don't you want me, say you do/Say you need me, cool and wet/Come up for air, hold me down/Like you want me, just say the words" express the singer's desire for the other person to reciprocate their feelings and to simply express them straightforwardly.
The song may be interpreted in different ways, but it appears to be about a narrator who feels as though they are alone and disconnected despite being surrounded by others. They yearn for a connection with someone who understands them and is willing to be vulnerable. The repetition of the phrase "just say the words" emphasizes the importance of communication and clarity in any kind of relationship.
