I've been falling down, falling behind
These days I can't take so much
I've been falling down, falling behind
And I know what it takes
And I think we can make it
Through everything
Oh, I am away from you
Today I am away from you
Today time passed strangely
Today you don't know me, you said
Today I scare so easily
These days I can't take too much
I've been falling down, falling behind
And I know what it takes
And I think we can make it
Through everything
You are all I knew
And I have your heart
I love you more
And I take a stand
And I have your hand
And I know what it takes
And I know we can make it
Through everything
You are all I need
Oh, I am away from you
Today I am away from you
Today I passed strangely
Today you don't know me, you said
Today I scare so easily
Today I am away from you
Today I passed strangely
Today you don't know
me, you said
Today I scare so easily
In "These Days" by Wet, the lyrics express a sense of vulnerability and being overwhelmed. The singer is struggling and falling behind in some way, and they are reaching for a lifeline in their loved one. The first verse repeats the lines "These days I can't take too much, I've been falling down, falling behind." This repetition creates a sense of drowning, of being pulled under and struggling to stay afloat. The second verse introduces the idea of distance- the singer is away from their loved one, and time is passing strangely. The line "today you don't know me, you said" is particularly poignant, signaling a breakdown in communication or understanding. The final verse repeats the first, with a few small changes. Now the singer has their loved one's heart and hand, but they are still scared and struggling. The overall meaning of the song is one of dependence and the need for connection, even in difficult times.
