They scored a number of hits in the UK charts and around the world in the 1980s and 1990s. They are best known for their 1994 cover of The Troggs' 1960s hit "Love Is All Around", which was used on the soundtrack to the film Four Weddings and a Funeral. The song was an international success, and spent 15 weeks atop the British charts. The band is currently composed of founding member Graeme Clark (bass, vocals) and lead vocalist Kevin Simm, who replaced founding member Marti Pellow in 2018 after he left during the previous year. Graeme Duffin (lead guitar, vocals) has also been with the band as a touring musician since 1983. The band were named Best British Newcomer at the 1988 Brit Awards.

I've always loved this version, way better than the original Beatles track. I like Marti's smile :-) I can't stand the stupid Joe Cocker version which just ruins the song IMHO! :-) I also like the 2004 Sam & Mark version - very rhythmical and great production, though it's a bit too 'heavy'. I prefer the Mellow Pellow! :-)

Wet Wet Wet are livelong friends (bar a fall out over money in for short period) and grow up together. They got together when they were 17 years old when Marti encouraged them to start a band as they knew each other from school and they call could play and sing! Their mum's were also friends and the death of Marti's mum ended their agrument when they all came to her funeral. They were not manufactured, they wrote and sang all their own material, unlike alot of the groups today. I won't disrespectful to groups of today because I enjoy some of the music. But all generations have music which defines their era and Wet Wet Wet, Simply Red etc were part of the 80s. As for this song, it was for charity so insults are not needed. My mum is a Beatles fan, but me, I like their music, but I cannot see what was so special about them. Yes, they changed the way music was seen and inspired generations after them and since inspiring along with Wet Wet Wet etc!

I think that it is terrible that she couldn't turn to her family members (including you) and that she had to resort to being in a video phoning Childline and having all the typical guessing by the rest of us viewers as to what was going on at home. It's not Marti's fault, he was just keeping it light for kids. Really it's a production problem - the juxtaposition of a happy perforamnce and the clips of the girl in danger - they don't quite gel together. Since this was for charity, maybe the production was just a little rushed, or changed hands, or done by two separate units without time to properly coordinate the tone? But definitely not Marti's fault. If you imagine a studio audience of kids, his performance is spot on! :-)

The video was made for kids and they're just trying to have a bit of fun and keep it light. I'd much rather have a singer with a goofy smile than all the miserable, sinister people in pop these days who can't be bothered to smile at all. This past 10 years, the music industry has become so depressing and trashy. We desperately need more acts like Wet Wet Wet!
