Lemonade
Wheatus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Just tell me his name
Just tell me you didn't get laid on our bedroom
And was it the same
Just tell me if his dick is bigger than mine
Do you remember the way it was when I was home
Before I left you all alone

I want to be eighty on the porch drinking lemonade with you
And its all that I can think about
Since you told me that you cheated
Eighty on the porch drinking lemonade with you
And its all that I can think about
Since you told me that you cheated on me

I knew that you would
I knew coz you told me in front of your family
And I did the same
So I guess that I should take half of the blame
Do you remember the way it was for us
Before all of the blow jobs on the bus
I want to be eighty on the porch drinking lemonade with you

And its all that I can think about
Since you told me that you cheated
Eighty on the porch drinking lemonade with you
And its all that I can think about
Since you told me that you cheated
Told me that you cheated on me
What should I care about a number
What should it matter to me
But are you out of love with no one
And now I know the end is here
Coz you replaced me

Just tell me his name
Just tell me you didn't get laid in our bedroom
Just tell me his name
Just tell me if his dick is bigger than mine
Just tell me his name
Just tell me you didn't get laid in our bedroom
Just tell me his name
Just tell me you didn't get laid on our bedroom
Just tell me his name
Just tell me if his dick is bigger than mine

Tell me that you cheated
Tell me that you cheated on me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of the song 'Lemonade' are about a man who is devastated by the fact that his partner has cheated on him. He is filled with anger and disappointment, and asks her to reveal the details of her infidelity. He wants to know the name of the other man, if she had sex with him in their bedroom, and most importantly, if he was better than him. However, amidst all the hurt and anger, the singer also expresses his longing for a future with his partner. He dreams of growing old with her and sitting on the porch drinking lemonade, even after all that has happened between them.

The lyrics highlight the emotional turmoil that infidelity can bring into a relationship. The singer's anger and hurt are understandable, but so is his desire to make things right and continue on with the relationship. He clearly loves his partner and wants to move past the infidelity, but is struggling to come to terms with what has happened.

Overall, the song is a powerful exploration of the complex emotions that can arise in the wake of infidelity, and the difficult decisions that people face when trying to move forward from betrayal.

I saw Wheatus live last month in London at the o2, and this song sounded soooo good live!! After all these years, this band still sounds incredible!!

Alice Byar

I discovered this when I heard them play it live and I couldn't agree more. Been obsessed with this song ever since <3

Andy Jake

Yeah, they do bring the sauce! It's truly a pity how underrated they are. The success of that goddamn Teenage Dirtbag song was the worst thing that ever could've happened to this band. :( Because of the mega success of that one song off their debut album & the subsequent label dispute that followed, which effectively tanked their follow up album, they were plunged into relative obscurity after having topped the pop charts on both sides of the Atlantic... :( Today they're widely regarded as a "one hit wonder" band, & unfortunately that status has been cemented in the collective mind of the public. Still, they bring the sauce live, brother! :D They rock for real.

Obsidian Productions

Saw this song live Yesterday. I really do agree when they are 'criminally underrated'

Diamond Doggo

I know your comment is 7 years old but I need to reply. Any song that isn't dirtbag is so underrated. They are really good. I'm 15 so I didn't really live in the Wheatus era but I really love their music. SO I guess im continuing on the legacy. Great music.

Andy Jake
