For the bands second album, Hand Over Your Loved Ones, Shannon Harris (from Relish) joined on keyboards. Due to disagreements with the record label, mostly caused by Brendan Brown's wish to self-produce the album, the album received little promotion and did not sell well.
Michael Bellar (keyboards) then joined the band and they re-released their second album (containing two new songs) on their own record label, Montauk Mantis, this time named Suck Fony. In 2005 they released their third studio album, TooSoonMonsoon, once again on their own label.
In 2005, both Mike McCabe (bass) and Michael Bellar (keyboards) left and were replaced by Nicolas diPierro and Gerard Hoffman. Then the following year, diPierro and Pete Brown left and were replaced by Matt Milligan (bass) and Kevin Garcia (drums).
Current lineup:
Brendan Brown (vocals)
Matt Milligan (bass)
Gerald Hoffman (keyboards)
Kevin Garcia (drums)
Johanna Cranitch (backing vocals)
Georgia Haege (backing vocals)

WHEATUS hump`em dump`em
Wheatus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And don't try to blame it on the government;
Your wife is a clown she's in town,
she gets with some other guy;
Are you gonna finish your fat?
'Cause I'd like to give it to my kitty cat;
The big fat look is coming back.
You skinny people are screwed.
Yeah I know it's time.
[Chorus]
Here we go again another humpem dumpem situation; Here we go again another humpem dumpem situation; Here we go again, here we go again, Now I know what you're like and I don't think I like it.
The newspaper says to get bent; Man I'd like to say that to the President; He got the L. in the House, I guess he already did; She looks like she finished here fat; she then turned around and ate my kitty cat; she coughed up a hair ball or two and laughed her way to the bank; And I know it's right; Yeah, I know it's time.
[Chorus]
Here we go again.
The lyrics to Wheatus's song "Hump" are somewhat nonsensical and difficult to interpret on a literal level. However, there are a few possible interpretations that can be gleaned from the words. One possible interpretation is that the song is a commentary on societal expectations regarding beauty and weight, with the singer expressing a preference for larger, curvier women, and suggesting that skinny people are at a disadvantage in the dating world. This interpretation is supported by the line "The big fat look is coming back. You skinny people are screwed." Another possible interpretation is that the song is a satirical critique of political and economic elites, with the references to rent, the government, and the President suggesting a dissatisfaction with the status quo.
