Save Myself
Where Angels Fall Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
rubbing my skin
Invisible like fragments
of broken glass
I have to stay away
to save myself
I have to go my own way
I can't resist the offers
you will give me
Fragile like snow melting
in your hands
I have to stay away
to save myself
I have to go my own way
to feel my heartbeat
The lyrics to Where Angels Fall's song "Save Myself" paints a picture of a person who is at a crossroads in their life. The opening lines, "Innocent memories rubbing my skin / Invisible like fragments of broken glass," could represent a time when the person was happier and more carefree but is now being weighed down by the pain and hurt of their past experiences. The use of "invisible like fragments of broken glass" suggests that the pain is still present, even if it is not physically visible.
The person is aware that they need to change something in their life in order to move forward and have a sense of freedom. They understand that they cannot succumb to the same old patterns and must make choices that are healthy for them. When the lyrics say, "I have to stay away to save myself / I have to go my own way to feel my heartbeat," it seems as though the person is saying goodbye to something that was not serving them well, in order to find their true self again.
Despite the temptation that the person may feel to go back to their old ways and accept the "offers you will give me," it is clear that they know deep down that this will not be beneficial for them. The reference to being "fragile like snow melting in your hands" suggests that this person is vulnerable and at the same time they know that they need to be cautious with who and what they expose themselves to.
Overall, the lyrics are about respecting oneself and choosing to move forward despite feeling a pull to remain in the past. It is a song that acknowledges the difficulties of letting go, while emphasizing the importance of self-care and making choices based on what is ultimately best for oneself.
