Figure It Out
Where Fear and Weapons Meet Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You always said. You wouldn't walk away. Playing for us. With something to say, was it your dream? To leave us behind. In your words. Chance of a lifetime. You always said. Wouldn't sign your life away. Told us that. We'd never see the day. Was it your dream? To leave us behind. In your words. Chance of a lifetime. Figure out the difference. What did you work so hard to get? An empty promise. Now you're filled with regret. Figure it out. Moving to the next trend. You're left behind. Moving to the next trend. What did you find? An empty promise. When it turns on you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Figure It Out" by Where Fear and Weapons Meet seem to describe a situation of betrayal and disappointment. The singer seems to be addressing someone who had a dream or ambition, but in pursuit of that dream, they left others behind. The person promised not to walk away, but they did. They promised not to sign their life away, but they did. The singer suggests that this person was working hard for something, but that something turned out to be an empty promise, leaving them filled with regret.

The chorus of the song, "Figure out the difference. What did you work so hard to get? An empty promise. Now you're filled with regret. Figure it out", seems to be a message to the person who left to reflect on their actions and to understand the mistake they made. The singer seems to be suggesting that the person abandoned their friends and possibly even their principles, only to end up with nothing.

Overall, the song's message could be interpreted as cautionary, warning against sacrificing one's values or relationships for superficial or fleeting goals.

anyone that served our nation (veteran) ask yourself this question and reflect on the (proper) answer from your toughest/most challenging time in the military and/or "deployed":

in 2011+; were these personnel fighting (each other/in print and media) over this "trophy" status the core of (the) abyss of our nations (ability) to conduct such an operation then, today and in the future.

from such a "2-prong" operation the overt depth of "look" at me. it was "me" is amazing. it is not "a" free pass (a trident); but it is "earned" (within context).

the "silence" of inertia to complete that mission is not "overt". although mr. o'neil's words "are" overt, actual, and on "video". i am (so) glad it gets him "some" free drinks in domestic/"international" airports.

great "YT" marketing.

@afg3643

these tip of the "spear" interviews are good. some (not most) but some commucnate the interlecaul/educated process of how they got to where "they" were; and that can assist/help others the same (in any field).

many just yap of "that" mission and this "mission" and there "i" was. always stating they are not revealing sensitive information/missions.

i was in mazar-e-shariff when (DoD) this mission (occurred). towards the end of the year 2011 i met (in a DFAC/eating) in kabul; a detachment of helo/blackhawk mechanics just at that base for a few days.

no there was no "bragging" of there "i" was in this big mission (if they were).

but the E8 stated indirectly about the mission; would "any" of them (operators) would have gotten (bin laden mission/may 2011) to that courtyard if those helos were not in "top" performing condition due to the mechanics/teamwork?

he was correct then as he is "today".; "heroes" are not all in the front line news nor should they be for operational purposes.

if you ask many (oneil) you would think the rigged, fixed, prepped and fueled the helos "themselves" and since it was "about" them and only "them".

When the interviewer stays quiet most of the time, that’s when you know you’re about to get a good interview. This is by far one of the best interviews I’ve seen ever.

@davidcoryell2318
