Whirlwind Heat Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A go-getter written in my letter
There in the doorway you never told me
At the end of my story you adore me
Its you who take it back now
Its you who meltdown
At the end of my story its not like me
The lyrics to Whirlwind Heat's song Silver are enigmatic in nature, as they touch upon themes of betrayal, unrequited love, and shattered dreams. The opening lines, "It's you who broke down who wouldn't jump down, a go-getter written in my letter" suggest a sense of disappointment or disillusionment, possibly as a result of someone failing to live up to their expected potential. The use of the phrase "go-getter" implies that this individual was once seen as ambitious and capable, but has since fallen short in some way. The next line, "There in the doorway you never told me" suggests a lack of communication or a failure to be honest, perhaps in relation to some significant event or turning point in their relationship.
The following lines, "At the end of my story you adore me, its you who take it back now, its you who meltdown," seem to convey a sense of bitterness or resentment. The use of "adore" implies that the singer was once held in high regard, but the abrupt shift to "take it back now" and "meltdown" suggests that something has gone awry, and that their former admirer has become critical or distant. The final line, "At the end of my story its not like me," is somewhat cryptic, but may suggest a sense of identity crisis, or a feeling that the singer's sense of self has been shaken in some fundamental way by the events described in the song.
