In 2011, they broke up and 4 out of the 5 members joined a band called The Contagion Effect. They only released one EP called Dichotomy of Reality before breaking up again in 2013. 5 years later in 2018, the band reformed and released a remastered version of Heathen in 2019.
Confined
Whisteria Cottage Lyrics

But don't you see it's profaned creed.
Dressed up, to make you imagine you're set free.
Yet it's all wrong, We must look pass into the realization we're all trapped.
Some are so mindless. We build on others beliefs.
How can we be buying into this?
A society brought up on inculcation.
How can we, break free. It sickens me, the way we are brought into this life.
We eat the bullshit from their hands, We crave every last drop.
Yet I'm worn out and distraught that this is what we are born into.
The lyrics of Whisteria Cottage's song Confined are a critique of society's manipulation through fear and indoctrination. The song suggests that people are trapped in a false sense of freedom and that their beliefs are not entirely their own, but rather a product of societal conditioning. Fear is presented as a factor that causes individuals to conform to society's beliefs, even if they do not align with their personal values. The line "We build on others' beliefs" reinforces this idea that people are not thinking critically but instead relying on others to dictate their beliefs.
The lyrics also point to the idea that society is driven by a consumerist culture where people are fed lies and propaganda that drains their lives to the bone. The line, "What we were once fed was nothing more than avidity" suggests that society is motivated by greed and that people are being fed lies to perpetuate the profit-oriented values of the system. The phrase "We eat the bullshit from their hands" is an indictment of the way society has conditioned people to accept consumption without questioning what they are consuming. The song suggests that there is a need for people to break free from the mindlessness of societal conditioning and to start thinking critically about their values.
Overall, Whisteria Cottage's lyrics in Confined are an incisive critique of societal indoctrination and the culture of consumerism. The song calls for individuals to question their beliefs, look past the illusion of freedom, and start living a more authentic life.
