A Mother's Revenge
White Skull Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
His queen rose up to power with honor
Boudicca her name, a striking looking woman
The stare of eyes most fierce, she was a terrifying queen
Alliance betrayed by the avidity of Rome
Lands and treasures were plundered with contempt and greed
They couldn't know her courage, warrior queen of Celts
So start the fire!
The flames get higher
She was ruler and
War leader of the Celts rebellion
Start the fire!
The flames get higher
A mother's revenge
Give no quarter, warrior queen!
Then Romans came, no pity and no respect
Boudicca was flogged and her daughters were raped
So it was clear, it was time for revenge
She led people in revolt and they slaughtered all Romans
She took no prisoners, she wanted to kill them all in flames
She was a woman fighting for her honor and her pride
They couldn't know her courage, warrior queen of Celts
They really shouldn't face her, Boudicca will avenge!
The lyrics of "A Mother's Revenge" by White Skull describe the story of Boudicca, the warrior queen of the ancient Britons who led a rebellion against the Roman Empire. The song reflects on the historical setting of Boudicca's times, when a king was falling down and the queen rose to power with honor. Boudicca, who is described as a striking looking woman with a terrifying stare, is presented as a courageous warrior queen of the Celts who defied the greed and contempt of Rome.
The song highlights the betrayal of the alliance between the Celts and the Romans and the plundering of their lands and treasures. But despite the strength of the Roman Empire, they underestimated Boudicca's bravery and determination. When she was flogged and her daughters were raped by the Romans, she retaliated with a full-scale rebellion. Boudicca's vengeance was brutal - she took no prisoners and wanted to kill all Romans in flames. But it was all for the honor and pride of a mother whose family was dishonored by the enemy.
Overall, "A Mother's Revenge" is a powerful tribute to the historical figure of Boudicca and her fight against oppression and injustice. The song portrays her as a fierce and courageous leader who defied the Roman Empire and fought for her people's freedom.
