Mishra, a straight edger and ex-Marxist, often incorporates political concerns in his songs veiled in terms of personal relationships (as in his only hit). After a troubled working relationship with EMI Records, Mishra was dropped from the label in 1997 and since then has gone back to working with indie labels like Parasol Records. His last album, 2000's Peek & Poke, received moderately enthusiastic reviews but sold pitifully compared to his major label work.
In 2005 White Town contributed the song "The PNAC Cabal" to the charity album "Voyces United for UNHCR" (Voyces United for UNHCR (disc 1)).
In October 2006 White Town released a new album, Don't Mention The War on Mishra's own label, Bzangy Records.
Cut Out My Heart
White Town Lyrics

Cut out my heart
And throw that shit away
I’m not gonna use it
Any more
After today
You’re singing blue songs
You’re singing blue songs
But you’re not blue
Will you
Take my hand?
Take my hand?
Do you think we could make it?
Could we possibly make it?
Take my hand
Take my hand
Do you think we could make it?
Could we possibly make it
Through?
In White Town's song "Cut Out My Heart," the singer is expressing intense heartbreak caused by his/her partner's infidelity. The song opens with the singer requesting that his/her heart be cut out and thrown away, expressing a desire to move on from the pain caused by the situation. The singer then describes how their partner is singing "blue songs" for someone new, but despite this, the partner is not experiencing the same emotional turmoil that the singer is. The singer then reaches out to the partner, yearning for a chance to make it work and take their hand to move on together.
The imagery of cutting out one's heart is a powerful and violent one, emphasizing the depth of the singer's pain and the desire to be rid of it completely. Similarly, the contrast between the partner's seemingly unaffected state and the singer's intense emotional turmoil heightens the singer's feelings of isolation and despair. The final plea for the partner to take their hand and try to make it work together shows the singer's willingness to forgive and move forward, despite the immense hurt the partner has caused.

I honestly didn't even know that White Town was still putting out music until I stumbled across a few of these tracks. I must thank you, because this is one of the best songs that I've heard recently and it's sad that it will never be as popular as it deserves to be.
