King of Angels
Whitecross Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Have you heard about the one who sent his son to you
He's the one who rides the ancient skies
He's the lord of all and he's making all things new
I keep lookin' up in the sky
I'm gonna fly away
Sing whoa, if you're waiting for the king of angels, sing
Whoa if you're waiting for the love that Jesus brings
Sing whoa, if you're waiting for the king of angels, sing
Whoa
Have you heard about the king of angels
Have you heard that he's the one who sent his son to you?
He's the one who lives beyond the grave
He's the one who lives to give new life to you
I keep watching to see if today
I'm gonna fly
Sing whoa, if you're waiting for the king of angels, sing
Whoa if you're waiting for the love that Jesus brings
Sing whoa, if you're waiting for the king of angels, sing
Whoa
The lyrics of Whitecross's song "King of Angels" are a celebration of the Christian faith and the hope it brings. The song speaks about the king of angels, who is none other than Jesus Christ, the one who was sent by God to save humanity. The lyrics talk about his power, his majesty, his ability to make all things new, and his promise of eternal life beyond the grave.
The chorus is a call to believers to sing praises and keep their faith strong as they wait in anticipation for the king of angels to return. The songwriter's use of repetition in the chorus lends emphasis to the theme of waiting and longing for the promised second coming of Christ.
The second verse of the song reinforces the message of hope and speaks about the rewards of waiting for the king of angels. The lyrics urge listeners to look beyond their current circumstances and keep their faith steadfast as they wait for the day they will fly away.
In essence, "King of Angels" is an uplifting song that aims to inspire listeners to persevere in their faith by reminding them of the promises of eternal life and salvation.

@ThisLightOfMine
I went to see Whitecross right before Rex Carroll left in 1993, in Moline IL, and then I saw Whitecross after Rex Carroll left, and Unveiled was released, in Mt. Pleasant ,IA.. In Mt. Pleasant, the band was so accessible. I talked with Barry Graul... he was a clown :), talked to Tracy Ferry... he was ready to talk your ear off about Jesus, talked to Mike Feighan... I told him, Whitecross is the greatest band ever... he was humble, and I talked to Scott Wenzel... he wasn't in a hurry to leave.

@Bangcat
I had a White Cross album long ago when I was a kid. My father made me throw it away. Red Light was the song I remembered the most. He yelled at my mom about if she knew what he heard about the band, seems like he knew nothing. Went looking again on youtube as I did long ago. Saw nothing. But now I see it, and perhaps a bit further why I was so in tears when my father threatened me and counted down to throw it in the garbage by at risk of a beating. Goes to show you what ignorance can do.

Thank you for these uploads. If not for the freedom to share these treasures, I may have never been able to hear them again, and find out the truths. Though may have never thought computers would be the way of sharing message and art, I think people sharing their music with others in similar fashion is exactly what they would want.
