Whoopi And The Cast Lyrics

Shout
Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm talking to you
Come on
Shout
Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm talking to you
Come on
In violent times
You shouldn't have to sell your soul
In black and white
They really really ought to know
Those one track minds
That took you for a working boy
Kiss them goodbye
You shouldn't have to jump for joy
You shouldn't have to shout for joy
Shout
Shout
Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm talking to you
Come on
They gave you life
And in return you gave them hell
As cold as ice
I hope we live to tell the tale
I hope we live to tell the tale
Shout
Shout
Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm talking to you
Come on
Shout
Shout
Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm talking to you
Come on
And when you've taken down your guard
If I could change your mind
I'd really love to break your heart
I'd really love to break your heart
Shout
Shout
Let it all out
These are the things I can do without
Come on
I'm talking to you
Come on
The song "Shout" by Whoopi Goldberg and the cast is a powerful anthem encouraging people to express their emotions and take action against injustice. The repeated refrain of "Shout, shout, let it all out, these are the things I can do without" emphasizes the idea that people should not have to suffer in silence, and that it is important to let out one's frustrations and anger.
The verses address the struggles of people in "violent times," especially those who have to work hard and sacrifice their own well-being to make ends meet. The lyrics assert that people should not have to "sell their soul" in order to survive, nor should they have to settle for being treated as mere "working boys". The lines "They gave you life and in return you gave them hell, as cold as ice, I hope we live to tell the tale" suggest that people should fight against corrupt systems and oppressive forces, even if it means causing some chaos.
The final verses bring the song to a close with a sense of defiance and a challenge to the listener. The lines "And when you've taken down your guard, if I could change your mind, I'd really love to break your heart" call upon people to stay alert and vigilant in the face of adversity, and to be open to new perspectives and ideas even if they are uncomfortable or challenging. Overall, the song is a call to action to fight against injustice and to be true to one's own values and emotions.
